    I think it's from 1937, I could be wrong.

The hood emblem inficates it is a 6 as well. Who bought Impalas with 6's? It seems unusual in TX. I don't think I ever saw one in SoCal.

This shot brings back some memories. This is Nye Frank's original "Pulsator" Top Fuel dragster, sans fiberglass body. Nye Frank is on the left, Bob Muravez (alias Floyd Lippencott, Jr.) in the seat, and Gordon Barber smiling at the camera. This photo was taken in 1965, during the construction of Craig Breedlove's Spirit of America jet powered LSR car (the 4-wheel Sonic 1). Gordon did all the wiring and electronics on the S.O.A, Nye was the Crew Chief, and I worked on the car too and worked for Craig for about 5 years. Dual 327 Chevy's punched and poked out to 364 inches each, on straight nitromethane, and "Laguna Lean-Outs" injection. The full body on the car was neat but it was always in the way when servicing the car or between rounds and we ran it without the body pretty often. For the life of me, I cannot remember where we were when this photo was taken. Fun times, that's for sure...

Used one of these in the dealership I worked in. Worked good until you removed the tire then you may have to balance it again if you didn't put it back on in the same spot it was in.

Interesting photos as usual, Rootie. Thanks!

The first photo is of the Kurtis chassis that Air Force General Curtis LeMay had some of his boys put a gas turbine engine in and run some exhibition runs. It took some laps at IMS and also appeared at some national drag racing meets. I believe the car exists pretty much intact today and is in the basement of the IMS museum.

I'm not sure about the second photo but since the track looks to be paved could this be Thompson, CT; probably around 1941?

I don't recognize the third photo either but since everyone is wearing heavy coats and jackets it must be somewhere in the east.

The fourth one is a great shot from Phoenix in 1963 with Johnny Rutherford on pole and Chuck Hulse alongside.

And the last photo is of the famous Henry and James sprinter which won the 1957 CRA car owners championship. Partners Hank Higuchi and Jim Yoshida had Lujie Lesovsky build the frame and Hank Henry did the body. I believe they built the GMC based engine themselves. This car later made its way to the Midwest and there have been rumors for years about where it might have ended up but as far as I know the car is still MIA.
