Yah, when my kids were younger I'd help get them to bed by 8:30 then go to the garage and work till 11-12 o'clock. Then back to work in the morning. Too tired for that these days. haha

No, it’s perfect and exactly what I wanted condition wise! This is the 60 I have. These trucks use the same frame, springs, steering...I will basicly roll the whole front and rear end under it this 59, hang the transfer case (same center crossmember), transfer case linkage bolts to the side of the trans, a few little things...it should be basicly a bolt together deal. The only reason I’m attempting it is because it’s very simple and I have everything. Here is the look I’m going for...
Amazing good result! Congratulations! Great to see that you could save the nice original paint under the layers of primer & stuff. Also goes to show the quality of the original paint. It has survived the solvents of the layers sprayer over it... You will have a truly nice genuine patina, but not "rat patina" overkill crap. There is nothing better than well maintained look with some unavoidable signs of the years of use.

Got a little more oven cleaner/wet sanding done today. No surprises! No buffing yet though. Little more to do on the bed but had to clean up for the night

Hard work pays off! Those '59 grilles look so much better with the vertical bars and areas around headlight pods black, makes the whole center section look like it's floating.
Got some more done over the weekend. It’s fun to watch the paint come back to life even flawed And gutted, pressure washed and started on the interior.
What are you gonna do to the bare metal spots? When some people see the bare metal bits on my sedan, they can't believe I'm not going to paint them. They think the car will rust away in no time. But my car lives inside a nice tight garage. Will that truck even fit in a garage after the 4x4 conversion?
Nothing, just keep it waxed. And this truck will live outdoors, indoor storage is a prime at my place haha. They will slowly brown but won't really get much worse. My climate is pretty dry really, we do get rain but I have had plenty of cars with little paint and it just is what it is. And the paint will continue to get thinner. But this should last a decade or two...and if I still have it, it may get a paint job haha. The roof shot above- I did nothing to it except buff it. It's looked like that for probably many, many years. It will be fine
Looks great Chris. You could put some satin clear on there and it would live up that nasty Spokane winter weather better.
Agreed when it is super gloss clear over a faded patina, looks kinda silly, definitely not for your truck. I was just thinking about preserving what you have with a satin or low gloss so it doesn't get any worse since you are going to leave it outside in the snow. Wax is cool but hard to re-apply in December in the 'Kane.
