I went to a wooden boat show a few years ago,those guys are as bad as we are with their boats,maybe even a bit more anal and it shows in the quality. Thanks for posting. HRP
You su.....LOL...You just had to show my dream runabout!!!! pic 3, AND also shown in 3rd up from the bottom... early 30s DODGE!! Mermaid above the cutwater on all the Dodges of that design, came in 16' up to in the 30' range... I think I know that one... Stunning dashes and blue interiors in these... Same family as the Dodge Brothers... one Son of one, his Mother set him up to start the Dodge Boat and Plane Co... Car steering on the "correct side" lol (like a car). These are stunning boats in person, very slender, very sleek...It was like going from the Model A to the new 1932 Ford.... The previous Dodges were "Dodge Watercars" not as sexy in styling. asa a sales boost the Company organized a new class of boats in the then very Growing boat hobby in that year of introduction... it was a class for the tiny 16' runabout...same style, same sexy mermaid! Those "16 footer Dodge boat races" really were popular then, despite 1933 being the worst year of the Depression for "car" sales

You start it, and I will then add a few each day.....of ones I have here.. ..here is one...with two Dodge Boat original magazine ads.. this boat was hand built by some old timer...was steam, but part of the engine and the boiler got misplaced by the estate after he passed away...it is impressive quality ...even the stand is amazing..the "bunks" are lined with leather so not to scratch the hull..36" length

Well, here's a pic of my labor of love, she is a 32 foot, 1970 Grand Banks, built in Singapore. She is not quite as fast as some of the others here, since powered by a single diesel, but real comfortable, and like a friend says, "it's not how fast you get there, it's how good you look getting there"
I don't have any current, good pics of our boat but here are some old ones and an original ad for them. It is a 1964 Owens Tahitian 40ft. Double plank mahogany hull, all teak decks. Queen aft cabin, bunks in front berth, full electric galley, dinette makes into bed. Sleeps 6. Powered by twin counter rotating 352 Ford FE's. Dave

My Monk Bridgedeck Cruiser in 1950... And a couple months ago... I have a thread going in this, the "Antiquated" forum.
Here are a couple I have lettered and a couple I just took pics of because they were unique. First up is a 12 ft handbuilt crackerbox made in 1955 by the owner's father. It originally had a 100 hp Merc flathead in it but when he got it from his dad the flathead was beyond repair so it now has a Capri V-6 for power. Next is a 10 ft Turn-A-Craft that was built in Quincy Michigan in the 1950's. This one is a 1958 model and has a 10 hp Mercury outboard for power. He brought it down to me inside a Chrysler mini van with the cradle on the roof. The two of us easily moved it(it is very light). Next is an even smaller Turn-A-Craft(an 8 ft model) built in 1956. This one also has a 10 hp Mercury for power. The Skipper Craft was in a friend of mine's shop to be restored and eventually sold. This was several years ago so I assume it is gone now. The Ventnor was at a car show in Indiana. The last boat I'm not sure is wood but is one of the most unusually shaped boats I've ever seen so I included it here.It was in a boat shop on Rte. 127 in Michigan near Jackson.

This is a motor powered "sneak boat" used for market gunning ducks. It was being restored at "Lowell' s Boat Shop" in Amesbury, Mass. ( home of the Amesbury skiff)

The old wooden "lakes" boats are killer. Anyone unfamiliar with these, get a copy of "Wooden Boat" magazine and check out the "for sale" section. You'll probably need one, lol.
Here's a couple of pics of the '53 Chris Craft Sportsman a 23 footer repowered with a '56 Chrysler Hemi that I sold a little while back. Clocked at just over 50 mph..

What year did they start putting the driver in front of the engine? I sent the link to Johnny Sweet, a distant cousin of mine and former HAMBer, who campaigned a hydroplane back in those days.

Boy that guy could tell a story and his e-mails to me were so eloquent I felt inept replying back............................................................
He is doing well. Here is an excerpt from the email I got about that link: "It looks to be a drag boat from the late 1960's. The Hall craft gear box was used a lot on different hydro's back in the day. 1" prop shaft and 7" strut. All good parts for the drag guys. That boat with a blown hemi could have been a 200 mph boat My hydroplanes were different. We ran circle racing. There has been some talk about rebuilding my Advanced United Hydroplane. I have one engine and I'm looking at a second..."
