Question: Has anyone retrofitted trunk lid latches back into a fiberglass trunk lid? Wondering what sort of issues will I be looking at.
Ok- - -But how did you get the latch assembly into the trunk lid? How did you know where to put it? Will you be using hydraulic lifts to hold the lid open or a broom handle? Don't laugh, did that way before they had trunk lifts! Anyway, thanks for the photos.
Had a linear actuator in it originally and didn't like how high it did not open enough and the use of the battery every time I want to get into the trunk, went back to KISS
Mine uses the linear actuator to lift and prop the trunk lid. No latch is needed, but I have a fake trunk handle to complete "the look". Phil
just got a glass body with a stock style trunk latch on it. Also has a catch so you don't have to mess with hydraulic cylinders. Check with Ed at New Age motorsports to see if he will sell you the whole setup. A lot would depend on what your trunk opening gutter looks like. SPark
Thanks for the input guys. Got enough to think about. My thoughts were being unable to gain entrance to trunk area in event of a dead battery. Besides, having to use the darn battery so often and the lift gets in the way of overnight bags. Just thinking of retrofitting the entire trunk area. Thanks again.
My lift is in the left fenderwell. My battery is not in the trunk, I need the space for luggage. Sent from my LGL158VL using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
