Thought I would start a thread to "maybe" start a fire under my ass and get it done. Bought a 31 a few yrs ago, patched up the usual places and panels, put some juice brakes on. Chopped it 3" wasn't happy went another inch. OHV. (not so happy with it) Z'd the rear sec of frame. Powder coated 35 wires with 7.50 and 6.50 tires. Mitchelle O/D unit (very happy with!)
Its a new miller set up. Valve cover was not machined to fit around head studs/nuts. Had to take .012 off head to get it flat. It was milled with a 2 1/2 bit when I received it. Intake didn't line up with the intake ports in the head, had to weld and mill it.
Nice save on the intake! Are you involved in the development of the OHV conversion (since you mentioned that it was new)?
Ok, I know now I'm not alone. I'm going thru the same thing with the new valve cover on an old head. I'm starting to think I would be ahead to salvage the old cover. So how does it run? My Mitchell main box pops out of gear under deceleration....I love the OD Sent from my XT1254 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Runs decent. I'm still playing around with jetting and power valves. 42's and 67 power valves its still rich.
Two 97's was just too much carb so I'm running two 81's. I don't know about CR it's about 6.2/1. I'd have to go hunt for what I have for mains and power valve. I'm putting another one together (Cragar) so I am going to have to find that out. The plan is two more 81's on a Zephyr manifold but I'm a ways off getting to there because it got a T-5. On to shortening the drive and changing to a 3:54 rear gear. Once you get thru all the bugs I bet you really will like it. I'm liking the look and set up of your car a lot. Keep after it.
