Hey thought I'd share some pictures of the 57 Buick I just finished painting. It will be at goodguys Des Moines this weekend. I'll be in my A coupe stop by and say hi if you see us. It's not perfect but not bad for being done in a garage in two months.

You are gonna drive that old Ford when you could be riding in style in that slick Buick?

Nice work man! I might have gone white on the rear bumper, but its your car, your decision. Have any of it all put together yet?

Trim is mostly back on, needed a couple clips for the doors. We will be putting chrome bumpers on it again when we find a pair.

    great looking Buick
Always had a hankering for a 57 with the divided rear window.
    Were those 1-piece or 3 pieces ?
Olds had something similar....maybe the same body parts ?

Enlighten me please! What does the base coat gold do exactly? I get that it affects the color but how? Why gold and not silver? How do you know what base coat to use to get the affect you want? Gorgeous by the way!

The gold or silver base changes the end color of the candy. Silver would be brighter where as gold makes it deeper and darker.

Got the trim and grille on today. IMG_3090.JPG IMG_3091.JPG IMG_3092.JPG
Have to wait to line up the bumper because I have to repaint the mustache. My little cousin (11) decided it was in his way so he threw it on the concrete.

Fine job! Love the old school newspaper masking. Did you really use a Harbor Freight gun? If so which one? I use them to spray clear lacquer on furniture and for spraying Rustoleum on garage stuff, but prefer better atomization for spraying candy.

I prefer my iwata but I couldn't get it to spray. So, I used the $16 purple gun. Used one for the primer and base, one for the kandy, and one for the clear.

  27. Red over silver is not as rich as red over gold. The silver will lighten it up and the gold makes it a deeper color. That is probably no help right?

  28. I said it before,;) it does too belong on the dealers showroom floor, front and center in the big window!
