  6. That dash looks sweet. More than 60 years old and the metal is perfect. The original one from mine is a wall hanger now. It was hacked up so badly I welded in another one from a parts car. That piece is available as of this year from Danchuk. $650:eek: eek!

Parts starting to pile up. The car is at the upholstery shop getting a headliner
400 turbo that the tranny shop claims will handle 800 hp. I guess that means it should handle 500

Well the headliner is taking a little longer than planned but..... stainless is getting polished. Pieces getting powder coated and the doors are getting body worked. Assembly work is right around the corner!

This thread really hits home for me.. Still have my first car a 57 150 my uncle bought new in Chicago in late 57, he drove it to San Diego in 58 for his new job at Convair. Was his Daily until 1977 when he sold it to me for one Dollar:D. I was 13 years old. Learned how to drive a 3 on the tree, and pulled the 235 for a rebuild , cause my dad said a 327 was out of the question....Drove the car thru high school and then promptly ran it into a light pole when some dumb ass cut me off on my way to work at the shell station on 10th and A:confused:. Smashed up the drivers side fender and bent the frame horn, Took the car home ripped off the front end and started to repair the damage and swap in a 327:rolleyes:. But by the I was driving a 71 chevelle 350 4spd, And my dad said something had to go...Sold the 57 to my pal Ray with the understanding if he decided to sell it I got first right of refusal .Sad part was he took the car to a local "race car shop" and had it back halfed:( He actually got it to run 10.20s at Carlsbad with a 327 and a Nash 5spd. Fast forward 30 yrs and I get the car back From Ray after many years of storage. Ripped out the hacked chassis and replaced it with a nice 57 west coast one piece chassis , and repaired the hacked trunk. The car is now mini tubbed with a blown 350 , turbo 400 and a 9"Its the one in my avatar . I realize this got kinda long winded...But thanks for the insperation to get me back on track with it, been side tracked latelyo_O

  15. I thought I was gonna have the opportunity to keep my first car from back in 1966. Just got it running with a fresh 255 merc flathead but still needed exhaust....bought a 56 olds convertible as a daily and the 50 ford sat...as did it's parts car, another 50 2 door...and my 41 tudor and then I got a screamin deal on a running/driving 40 ford.
My dad came home drunk one afternoon and told me I had to get all my cars except one off his property by the end of the weekend or he was gonna call the junk man!
I kept the Olds rag top and the rebuilt merc motor and all the others went to the junk yard...sniff. Wish I'd kept the 50 crestliner. Rockysfirstshubox1.jpg
BTW, the Olds blew the trans and the last time I saw it, it was sitting in the sage brush at the edge of my dad's old property. I yanked the engine [for a different 50 ford] and somebody else blew it fulla holes with a shot gun. There ya go, Pops!

Ha! I've heard it call "Tony Nancy" yellow but the actual color is 77 Corvette yellow. Not sure it's the exact code of Project X but it's awful close.

Shiny stuff! POR 15'd the front frame and suspension. You ever price a rear glass for a 5-7? Ouch!

The new mill is reaching final assembly. Should have it home by the end of the week and start setting it in.
