I wonder if they put T bird doors and front fenders on a 57 Ford?

  3. It's photo shopped! Very cool though. That would be a great one to actually build.

Looks like Doug "Cookie" Cook changing gears on his '37 Chevy Gasser...

    Hey GK,
Nice photo of being under the 37 Chevy Coupe. That is some example of a street legal gas coupe that won tons of trophies in C/Gas and B/Gas. I can appreciate (so did my late, brother) the countless hours I spent under the rear of the 1958 black Impala and the 1940 Willys Coupe, doing the exact same things, starting with pulling the axles out of the Chevy rear axle housings.

Cook's hydraulic jack is a life saver and unless you have upper body strength, that jack helps. With this jack, the third member is a lift and shove, to get it in to fit. After months of lifting the 3rd member with new gears, we finally got our hands on a super, hydraulic floor jack. That was one of the best things we did as hot rodders.

From that point on, changing the gears/3rd member was a snap. It was still time consuming on a Thursday afternoon and night. But, the Impala was ready for the Friday night drags and all day Saturday events at Lions in the A/Stock class.(B/Gas and C/Gas for the Willys Coupe)

    Jnaki
We had steel jack stands, but Cook's huge flat blocks look sturdy, but a little "shaky."

Usually, the floor jack would not raise a car up as high as it's shown in the photo, so we would have to do it in stages, and eventually put the floor jack on the 4 by 6 blocks. It was a process...
