IMG_2850.JPG IMG_2851.JPG One step closer to getting the motor out of the cube van. Seems like a never ending project due to weather, work, yard work, kid events, ect, ect. Trans is now laying on the ground and the motor is loose and ready to yank.

Messed around with my 35/6 drive shaft that I'm going to use as an exhaust pipe. Man this thing is in really shity condition. Cut it in half and chucked it up in my lathe so I can sand out some pits. Going too get some of the pits out but some are just to deep. I guess it fits the build. IMG_2847.JPG IMG_2849.JPG

Finally got my motor out. Let the grease scraping and mock up in the frame begin! IMG_2852.jpg IMG_2853.jpg

  6. Why not just come straight off the engine with a 4 (6?) into 1 exhaust pipe that goes straight down the side?

I reckon I'd agree with that, forget the cast iron and build a header. 6 elbows into your driveshaft.

  9. You’ve built everything else! There is nothing simple about that car, ha!

Now How The Hell did I miss your thread??? Man that is way KOOL! Makes mine look like shit. Oh well I'm having fun with junk. Where in the K.C. area are you from? My grand parents lived in Leawood, spent many summers visiting as a kid.

It sure does. I think everything should work pretty good except the fan. It runs off the water pump which is the highest part of the motor. I'm going to have to come up with a fan carrier to lower it. 8ba ford flatheads run a carrier so that might be an option.

Came up with a mount for my motor/transmission mount. I had a chunk of 7/16 thick 8"x8" square beam. I chunked off a piece and did a bit of shaping. My pops had some rubber bisquits in his stash for the vibration. IMG_2864.JPG IMG_2866.JPG IMG_2867.JPG

Looks like I am going to have fan issues, I need to lower it. The fan runs off the water pump at the top of the motor. It sounds like late fiftys mopar cars had a lower water pump to allow fan/hood clearance. Any mopar gurus out there that know these ole flat sixes?

Gives a whole new perspective on "hell for stout" doesn't it? I have a folder for motor mount pix and I'll be adding yours to it.

Did you catch the fellow on the P15/D24 forum who is looking for you to pm him regarding the latter style water pump and assembly?

Dicked around tonight and tacked some exhaust tubing bends together. Pops donated again with all the tubing leftovers from when we built his headers. IMG_2876.JPG IMG_2877.JPG IMG_2878.JPG IMG_2879.JPG

stogy calling stogy! Can you do some photo shop magic with little to nothing? I am debating weather to run my exhaust pipe up the side or running it just above the frame withe some mandrel bends to follow the kick up in the frame. IMG_2845.JPG This is what I'm thinking except running it higher in the rear. IMG_2887.JPG IMG_2888.JPG This would be close to where I was thinking as far as height but have a kick up that matches the frame.
Damn it looks like shop clean out time AGAIN!

I wish my shop was that neat. As hotrodladycruiser told me I just have "little goat trails to get around in my shop."

I did a bit of cutting this weekend on the exhaust pipe. I was going to pack it with sand, heat and bend it but decided to cut the pipe almost all the way thru every 2" and then pipe clamp it back together and tack it. Up front the pipe needed more bend so I cut every 1". I also did the cuts on the 35 drive shaft cone to get a bend in it as well.
Lots of welding and metal finishing but I have nothing but time. IMG_2891.JPG IMG_2892.JPG IMG_2893.JPG IMG_2894.JPG IMG_2895.JPG
