I'd seen this Chevy around a few times. When I saw it sitting in a driveway I ran up and
ripped off a couple of shots, only to find out later it belongs to the uncle of my daughter-in-law.

  2. We saw some old iron up by the Pennsylvania mine up above Dillon Colorado this morning. RIGHT BEFORE a wild fire broke out above Dillon Reservoir and we had to get back to camp. I know it don't look like much but a true gear head always gets a chub over any old tin. A '65 Buick Skylark sitting in front of a trim shop. I didn't think much about them back
in the day but sure dig them now.

upload_2018-6-19_4-38-9.png Model A for off road?
    Hello,

One day I was driving down the coast to see some friends in the “Surf Ghetto” portion of San Clemente’s older, industrial zone. I saw a couple of nice old cars and trucks. Then as I turned down this one street, up popped this modified coupe/sedan?

It looked like a Model A set up for off roading. Huge tires, including knobby tires in back. Oversized headlights along with a light bar over the windshield. The front end had rather large shock absorbers and large, matching shocks in the rear, as well.

The interior had the rear portion of the cabin cut off and a full roll cage along with a canvas overhead cover added. I did not hear it run, but the chassis was set up front and rear to bash over some heavy duty rocks and crevices.

    Jnaki

This was the first time I have ever seen an old Model A type of coupe/sedan used for off roading purposes. It just struck me as strange. HAMB appropriate? Pre 65, Model A or such body type, original fenders, grille, hood, body, doors, etc…So, what is not to like?

    “To each his own…”

ASIDE: Without feeling like a stalker, I decided to take a photo as I drove by and not stop for detail photos. It was parked in front of someone’s house, several streets over from the “Surf Ghetto.”

JNAKI that's looks like what's left of a 1929 Chrysler. I hope they did't cut up a nice car. Like you said to each their own. When I see that, I get the same feeling as a restorer probably feels, when he sees my old Hot Rods. Lol Thanks for all your COOL POST!:) Ron.....

    Hey Ron,
Thanks for the update, you know more about old cars of that style than I certainly do. I saw one other one in Long Beach, so, I thought they were both Model A coupes... I stand corrected. Sorry,I think they cut off the back of the sedan to make it open (Jeep) style.

That section of the Surf Ghetto (isn't that an odd name...?) has a lot of modified car repair shops, and off road shops. (But the name comes from the myriad of surfboard mfg. shops, clothing, and shaper's garages scattered all over the area in the recycled shops/buildings from the 60s. )

    Jnaki
Your grouping of old cars are so cool. I like all of them and they offer the "style" that fits our likes in every aspect. A Nomad wagon for the family trips, the sedan delivery for cruising surf trips, and that cool coupe just for attitude and style... congratulations on a great series of old cars.

^^ I can't help but wonder, would it be such a crime or a form of selling out if this car
was clean, bugs off the radiator, headers ceramic coated and whitewalls scrubbed? ^^

    That's not a 5 window, it's a 30-31 Model A coupe.
