Good morning, I am a new member and posted a WTB ad a couple of weeks ago. A couple of days went by and I received the following:

Wtb 1968 Grumman Olsen Headlamp Bezels

Hello Buddy, You listed a Wtb ad looking for a 1968 Grumman Olsen Headlamp Bezels. Email Kevin in CA. He has one for sale. Here's his email [email protected]
    ______________________________________________________________________________

Below is the email thread which leads me to believe this is a scam:

"Kevin -Sorry for the delay in response. Yes, I have a pair of the bezels you are looking for. I can let them go for $125 plus Walmart fee, price includes shipping. I'm in California and will ship via UPS. What is your complete shipping address?

    Thanks
    Kevin

    7527 Brighton Ave,
    Los Angeles, CA 90047"

"Kevin - Thanks for getting back to me. They are aluminum with no rust or scratches. As for payment, I mean payment will be made via the services provided by Walmart and you'll take the fees allocated for the transfer. Sending payment via Walmart is simple and easy. You can locate a Walmart superstore close to you and the agent will guide you on how to proceed with the payment. I got hold of your shipping information and it has been noted down for shipping. Below is the information needed to make payment via Walmart.

    Payment Information
    Name: Kevin Patterson
    Address: Los Angeles, CA 90047
    Amount to send: $125(price shipped)

Once you are done with payment, you are to email the following from your payment details to enable us confirm your payment.

    Reference #:
    Sender's name:
    Amount sent:

I'll email you a tracking number and relevant shipping information once payment is received or confirmed.

    Thanks
    Kevin"

"Sorry as I cannot provide pictures as my phone camera is very bad. Presently, I use a basic phone. There's nothing to worry I can advise if you are looking to buy a Pair of 68 Grumman Olsen headlamp bezels as that's what I'm selling to you

    Kevin"

"Sorry, I'm not setup with them as I was hacked using them in the past. Since I was hacked, I vowed not to use them anymore. But I have a friend who has PayPal. If you can send via PayPal Family and friends so he can send the money to me and I start making shipping arrangement for ship out. Let me know"

I sent an email to to the forum management team but have not received any response. I strongly recommend that anyone who is contacted by these two individuals be extremely cautious as I think they are scammers.

The guy didn't even go through the effort to steal a picture off Google to con you with. I feel like if someone's gonna steal my money they should at least be considerate enough to put a little effort in.

Ask for his home address and tell him you have a friend/relative who will go to his house and pay for them and pick them up. You will never here another word from him if he is a scammer. If real you will get an address. Then google earth it to make sure it isn't a vacant lot.

Scam all the way. Multiple red flags. WalMart is not a safe way to transfer $$$ to a starnger. Google "how to prevent from being scammed", to educate yourself and retain your hard earned $$$!

once someone mentions payment via Wal-Mart or western union simply stop all communication. those services are for people sending money to people they know.
