It"s Friday and most people are at work. The swap meet area is kind of empty. Not too many people here today.

Most of the sellers are in the middle of the swap area.

SPEEDWAY was pulling in as I was leaving.

Bldg 4 has fewer vendors than in previous years.

    A 5" Chili Cheese Dog, curly fries and a 20oz drink=$18.

    Banana Split $10

    20 oz soda= $4

    FOOD FOR THOUGHT....
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The second day was great. Lots of spectators and a bunch more cars. The weather was great!

They expanded the swap area but it seems like only a few more sellers are here. Not alot of buyers or spectators today.

But it is Friday and people are at work.

I have some crappy video of today that I will upload if I can get it to upload.

The swap is nothing like it was a couple years ago...even on Friday.

    I was there today.
First thing is I want to say a big Thank You to Ken Butler and Benny from the LA Roadsters for putting in a great amount of effort.( I kind of feel like a dick for the amount of time they spent to help me) with a trivial issue.

Second for anyone going tomorrow, there is a major re paving project happening on Wheeler Ave. so you may want to choose a different route.

I thought the swap meet seller turn out was pretty good. As stated above not as good as previous years but ok.
Spectator wise it was a light day but it is Friday so I'm sure Saturday will be better.

Last thing, the cool metal dash plaques from years past are no longer in the goodie bag and have been replaced by a fridge magnet.
they are available for $5 at the souvenir stand.

aside from the horrific traffic on my trip home it was a good day at the fairgrounds.

    Hmm...VERY different.
This may have been promoted as a "Roadster" show...it was just a car show/swap meet. There were non-roadsters and later model (60's) convertibles in the "Roadster" area...what the hell..!? By the way...where WERE the Roadsters ? Looked like there were about 30 of'em. Yea, there were more than 30...but not by much !

WAY...too many rented and non-rented golf carts running around. Getting in the way, especially in the swap area. If there would have been a (old) normal amount of people walking the show, there would be injuries..!

Only took a couple of hours to walk the entire show..! I did miss last year, but this is/was the first time I've seen not only the whole entire show, but seen it in just a few minutes over two hours. The only thing I didn't do was tour the NHRA museum, as I was just there a little over a week ago.

Hope for everyone involved that tomorrow/Saturday, is about 3 to 4 times bigger/better..!

    Mike

Sounds like it's on life support. I was really hoping last year was just a small bump in the road and the new guy would learn from his mistakes. What a bummer.

Going tomorrow for the swap meet. Was going to go today but went to the Model T meet in Devore. The Devore turnout was low but it was only Friday. Still it was a shame that both events were on the same weekend. Hoping the roadster meet will be worth the 20 bucks admission plus parking.

The Long Beach Model T Club is having their annual Swap Meet at the Long Beach City College on July 21st.

I'm not a member of the club but I like the swap meet.

Thanks for taking and posting the pictures. I've never been and wanted to go and thought I would be able to hit it this year due to having some time off for medical reasons, unfortunately I wasn't able to.:(
Instead I'll be going to the antique motorcycle show and swap meet up here in my neck of the woods at the Dixon fairgrounds.

Just got back from LARS. Nothing I really had to have in the swap meet section but as I was walking up to the ticket booth a guy offered me a free wrist band so I saved the $20.00 admission fee and he wouldn'd even let me buy him a beer! I did order a Glide Engineering seat for my '39 p/u. With the 20% off at the show it came out cheaper than I was figuring. Still not cheap but hopefully my butt will thank me down the road. And thanks Flathead Dave about the Long Beach meet. I don't own a T but try to go every year.

  23. The event was quiet and light traffic. even as spectator.
I don't mind it, less obnoxious people and less non-car related items.

Once again if you were set out to build a hotrod, the parts here were the parts to be had.
I saw a few good deals, if you were working on a Model A, T and even 32-34 Fords.
The were some nice cars for sale.
Especially the Green Model a, they guy lowered the price from 16K to 14K winthin a week from Pomona Swap Show.

I think what people are missing is "green sellers"with blow out prices, so they can get deals on parts they don't need but want to flip.

There were some good prices you just have to search.

We always skip eating on the grounds, then stop afterwards at the Mexican restaurant on the road (street) that goes along the side of the drag strip......fantastic food at very reasonable prices. Make sure to sit outside and watch all the hot rods cruise by!

Judging by the pix, looks like turnout wasn't too bad, better than last year. Hope this event will continue to have a pulse!

I saw lots of cool cars in the swap area. As for "inside" near the exhibit halls, I've seen all the 32 roadsters with SBC and billet steering wheels I ever needed to see. Many of the cars in the swap are true old school hot rods.
