An old broken skateboard found in a street a couple of months ago.
After being glued and violently sanded, I've got a "rat skate" ready to paint.
A good reason to get my old One Shot out of its box.

Frogz, I could dig hanging the skateboard on my garage wall. What I could dig more is
knowing how to stripe and letter like that.

I suppose Mary's Hubby will now offer to drive her around to deliver her
flying off the line Tupperware since she purchased such a cool ride with her profits
from this rapidly growing success story...:D

    Happy Fathers Day
    Ya Hoodlums

Just to let you all know Stogy hasn't put his Hotrod up for sale yet so Mary will have to
wait a while for this fantasy to unfold...

    Hello,

Taking movie films from back in the late 50s and early 60s was always fun. We got to see the latest in race cars and thought what they might look like as street versions. Later on at home, after we got the film developed, I had to set up the film editor, cut and spliced the film. Then we watched it after I threaded it onto the huge film projector. Interesting things popped up, but the thrill of seeing drag racing action at home was something, no sound, but it was still exciting.

I did not notice anything back then that was different, other than drag racing cars going against each other in my films. But, I started to sketch what I thought were my favorites back in high school classes. (favorite past time for many teenagers…) in various places of my school papers . I had an outline sketch of this 5 window 32 coupe, but never added any color to it. The drawing was rough as I did have to listen to my teacher’s lectures…ha!

The street version would have an open engine compartment, custom header pipes and street legal mufflers, headlights, and requisite Moon Discs as the locale demanded it. There were more Moon Discs on cars in our neighborhood, almost as much as those 4 prong flipper hubcaps.

In our neighborhood, there was one 34 5 window coupe. It was a fast street coupe with a big Olds motor that put the coupe in the A/Gas class at Lions Dragstrip. There was one other coupe in our area, but as street legal cars go, they all had fenders at the time. (59-62) There weren’t too many fenderless coupes during our early hot rod days, at least not in this neck of the woods.

The drag race version of the 32 5 window coupe would have dropped it into the Altered class with shorty exhaust pipes, no headlights or street legal stuff. The added weight was taken off and a class legal, engine set back would be added.

A zillion years later, after I had my films digitized, I happened to film our favorite Altered Fiat coupe at Lions, the Ratican Jackson, Stearns blue Fiat. In one race, it is/was going against a modified red/orange Ford 5 Window Coupe. The setback is noticeable and that red/orange coupe was in for a battle against the fast R-J-S blue Fiat coupe, the consistent class winner in the Altered class.

Hi my brothers, been about 5 years since I posted in the FAS, finally got back to my roots, Reading Fairgrounds, early 60's vintage. (please ignore the 40 Ford with the 37 Ford front end, it is a WIP !!)

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads here. BTW, my avatar is a photo of my Dad next to his race car back in the early 1950's.

This is an oldie, but it is the same theme as the new one above in a different style so figured I'd post it again.
