Event Coverage More Fun than Ever! - Hot Rod Dirt Drags 2018

Here is a picture of me - I always look more than a little goofy when I'm covering an event, but all that has its practival application. I like the mirror images better because I am very small in them. Here, I'm getting ready to take a ride in Larry Filipczak's #75 Bell Roadster with Tom Reynolds driving.

1933 Plymouth - Shannon Waltz

 

Just a couple snapshots to give those who weren't there a feel for the scene. Aboe I am standing on the track looking back at the Best Western Movie Manor motel and the drive in theater behind it, where there are movies for the event participants every night and also where the award ceremonies are held. If you are one of those staying there, you can watch the movies on either large screen from your room with the sound piped in.

 

There is also a crane that you can take a ride up on for a donation to a charity - one for veterans I believe. It takes you up about 6 or 7 stores for a great look down on everything. I wanted to do this but the line was always too long and by the time it wasn't, it was closed for the day.

Dan, your images of the Dirt Drags are spectacular. I'm kicking myself for not trying harder to find you and say Hi. I love the fact that this killer event takes place in my home town and am determined to be there next year in my '56 Ford Fairlane. Hopefully we can take a drive around the countryside and I can show you some local color.

 

Thanks A lot @Animal - I would love doing something like that.. There are so many good places to pose cars around there. It has always been one of my favorite places in Colorado.

The bare metal roadster belongs to Joe Casto, Ponca City, OK.
He is the "axle guy".
