Wider frame is much better! Now Time to make all gussets, engine mounts etc. I'm also thinking how to lower rear suspension.
I like the look of the oryginal frame. Maybe I'll make mountings higher or mount normal leaf springs (frame should be longer)
Your ex-ol lady wrapped up in the plastic sheet has to get lost. All kidding aside, That's a real nice project and I like the hood sides.
What if you moved the anchor for the springs back? That would lower the rear and lengthen the wheelbase by a few inches. I drew a quick before and after sketch.
Interesting idea but i'm affraid that wheel base Will be too long. Maybe I'll make some mounts inside the Rails with another angle.
How much drop do you need? I'll bet you could remove half of the leaves. Truck suspensions are usually pretty stiff. Or, what if you remove the spring pack, flipped each leaf over, and reassembled it upside down?
Good thinking, @rwrj. I believe one could remove some as well...And/Or pound them 'flatter' on that anvil that's bigger than my Peter Wright! Man, that's a 'Railroad Anvil'...(I saw one like that in the old locomotive repair shop/Roundhouse in San Jose, CA. years ago. A thing of awe and beauty!)
wont reversing it lower it 1 inch x 2 =2 inch .tai think moving the springs inboard the frame will have the effect of stiffening the ride while moving outboard will soften the ride.law of the lever and that .take the spring pack apart remove leaves 6,4 and 2.blast it with a fine grit ,light coat of paint and grease between leaves.removig leaves should lower it and soften the ride.then if its too soft or too low you can put some leaves back in.adjustable suspension if you like..
This should be interesting as the 34 Peugeot 301 was no slouch in the looks department to begin with.
Just remove a couple of the shorter leaves out of the rear springs and see how it sits. You may not need to do much else with a little luck... If that don't work, you can cold set the leaves that you are using with a big hammer and an anvil setup correctly or a press.
