I'm going to replace my stock T5 shifter with one with adjustable stops.

I'm thinking of buying the Hurst version (I've never owned Hurst anything and feel like I should) but the price is significantly more than others. Is the name worth it?

Or should I go with another brand? There are a lot to choose from....

I have a Hurst. It works, and works very well. I lucked out and found it at a small swap meet, brand new in the box (no handle). The price was "good value". I'd certainly do it again.

I have a Hurst for my T5 and it shifts absolutely wonderful. I didn’t have a shifter for it so I have no basis of comparison. Of course part of the reason it’s so good is the transmission design itself with the internal linkage. I can shift with two fingers it’s so smooth.

What are your thoughts on a used shifter? There's a Hurst online...

Don't think there's much that could go bad on them. I'd be tempted on a used one. I'm way over 20,000 miles on mine, and it feels like the day I installed it.

I would agree with mcsfabrication. Having no external linkage that could be jacked up it’s probably a relatively safe buy.

  8. And don't forget you can modify a Mustang shifter to fit on an S-10 tailshaft, there are probably a lot of those out there.

Mustang "World Class" T5 in my '40 Ford coupe. Shifts very well, but once in awhile after backing up and then going to 1st gear something seems to hang up and require some slapping the lever around to unhang it. Not at all sure what's up with that.
