Event Coverage 2018 ALL DEUCE RUN - PHOTOS

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Jun 3, 2018.

  1. The 18th annual All Deuce Run kicked off with a Friday night dinner and later a lot of us ended up at the host motel, unlike many of us did years ago the parking lot socializing didn't go on until the wee hours of the morning.

We all meet up at the Target Shopping center Saturday morning and Bill & I made sure everyone had a ADR sticker for the windshield & a route map to our final destination.

We are not photographers and all our photo's are point and shoot, hopefully Tom & Bobby will chime in with some of the work they are both known for.

The total car count this year was 33 at the start which was less that last year but considering all the bad weather, storms and mud slides I think the run was a success,we saw a lot of new faces and many long time supporters.

Bill had arranged for two policeman to hold traffic, one were we could leave the parking lot in mass and one to hold up on lane of the highway as a group,I brought up the rear and noticed there were only 32 cars,I was later told Tom Busch just came to see us off.HRP

  2. Shortly before our first gas stop I saw a red roadster on the side of the road blowing a cloud of smoke from both tail pipes and Bill had stopped his roadster and was waving the others on by and I stopped also.

It seems Johnny's roadster is fresh with only 80 miles on the engine and the quick assessment concluded that Johnny's day was over,he called a friend and fortunately we were only 20 to 30 mikes into the run.

We reluctantly left after pushing the car into a parking lot and proceeded to our first gas stop where the rest of the participants were waiting.

We also picked up 2 more Deuces at the gas station and after everyone had topped off their tanks, took some photos the 33 of us were on the road again, the ride through the mountains and back roads were scenic and the recent bad weather didn't pose any problems. HRP

  4. Our stop at Thunder Hill was a quick one and one of the guys ask me how close was the next gas station,he called me over to look in the tank and all he had was fumes,I was thinking the only thing we can do was siphon some from my car and Bill says he has a gas can with him.

Within a few minutes we had enough gas in the yellow coupe to get him to our next destination.

Bill's roadster has been on the road for over 30 years.

Obligatory photo on my old sedan.

Within about 20 minutes we were back underway and ended up at our final destination for a late lunch at Foggy Rock and every one I talked to enjoyed the food, about the time our orders were brought out to the table the skies opened and several of us had to make a dash out in the parking lot to roll up windows, close cowl vents, and throw plastic tarps over the roadsters, one intrepid souls roadster had no top and no plastic and the rain and wind really dropped the temperature on top of the mountain.

Before we left for home we made a point to go around and thank everyone for attending, we saw a lot of new faces and hope to see you again next year for the 2019 All Deuce Run. HRP

Wow!! I'm jealous. That looks like it was a great day. Who was the Jersey guy in the Hemi roadster?

  6. I'm sorry, I don't remember his name and he was the only guy that didn't have a top.

BTW,we live and learn,Friday night someone ask Brenda if we had name tags so after dinner we went in search of some but all the stores in the area that might have them were already closed so she went to Target Saturday morning and they didn't have any.

We will remedy that oversight next year and have name tags with me when we leave home.

Sorry we had to miss the event this year. I’m jealous of those that did go, and keep up the good work.

Thanks to Danny and Bill for their efforts. It was my first time and I had a blast. Its good to know my car can run for 7 hrs without any mechanical difficulty. Cant wait till next year.
