History Model A Coupe rescued after settin for 65 years

Go back to 1976 . A good buddy of mine Rick by name just bought a house in a small town in south Jersey .The house needed a fair amount of work including some concrete work which agreed to help with that being my line of work . I had a model A tudoor at the time . Somehow Model A ford must have been mentioned because an old guy from five doors down who came down to watch us pour the concrete made the comment that he had a Model A coupe in his garage .He got my attention quick . I asked if I could see the car and he said sure, But he had not driven it for quite some time . We walked down to his house and when we got their his wife was working in the yard . When he told her he was going to show us the Model A coupe ,She went off .She told us she knew what we were their for and it was not for sale , we were not even allowed to look at it .She told us to get out of the yard and told the old man to go in the house . I couldn't believe so close but yet so far . I don't think I ever saw the old man again . I asked My buddy Rick quite a few times if he could find out about the car , But he had no luck . Over the years I never forgot that their might be a Model A coupe hiding close by . Every year while sittin around fall Carlisle I would mention to Rick about the car . He said the people had died and the house was rented and he didn't know if the car was still there . We figured it was long gone. Fast forward three days ago .Rick is retired and was home in his own garage on a back alley behind his house. . Usually being pretty quiet ,He hears some commotion a few doors down . Upon investigation there's a couple guys with a role back taking down a fence . They were cleanout guys and said the property had been sold .Their job was to clean out the house and to get rid of an old car in the garage .They got the door open and their was the 1930 Model A Ford coupe .Rick said he couldn't believe his eyes .He helped the cleanout guys get the car out of the garage and loaded on the truck .He was smart enough to ask the guy for a phone number . They gave him a card. He called me right away and gave me the phone number .The next morning my son and I were in the cleanout guys yard . A little haggling and we loaded the car on the trailer . I took me fourty two years just to see it. The fenders are beat .The motors stuck ,But it still had it's original paint . It has surface rust but no rot or patch panels ever .The sub frame is perfect .I know the car was in the garage since 1976 .The license plate still on it was a New Jersey 1953 .We were guessing that when the car was put in the garage sixty five years ago.

What an incredible story. Hard to believe the car stayed in the garage shed when house was rented for so many years. Car looks quite good shape overall,

 

Must have been a street rod, look at those turn signals on the front fenders!

Iam workin on a 21 stud motor that came with that frame that needed the rear.Perfect motor for this car and the trog

Just for a fun challenge, I'd soak that engine and attempt to fire it up after a 65 year slumber. The ol Girl, then may better surrender to becoming a Hot Rod. Makes me wonder how many kids in the neighborhood through the years knew of the car and tried to buy it.
Your buddy never saw the guy again. I'm thinking she knocked him off. What timing; the season premiere of "Buried in the backyard" begins today, lol!

 

Grate find! I often wonder what those "Clean Out Guys" just toss in the metal bins and scrap, glad this one got saved. Bob

I notice a couple of things--the sealed beam headlights (Guide? BLC?), the little Arrow parking or turn signal lights on the fenders (got a pair just like them on my truck), and the '35 Ford wheels (only year they made a 16" wire wheel).

 

Stories like this are better than a porn novel.

 

Kinda beat up but still in remarkably solid condition. That will buff out nicely ☺

 

I Imagine that old car has seen some drama being around an old hag like that. Time for a new life now.

Man I love stories like this. Guess I'm lucky ... only took me 28 years to get my boss to sell me his coupe that had been in the barn since the early 80's

I would be pissed at my GOOD buddy Rick. You could have had that car years ago. Thank god he was home and outside at the exact time they were loading it up or this story wouldn't have such a happy ending.

Did you make the TROG .I bought a 29 A pickup and worked on it all weekend . Did get it running . I Know Whats with all the model A s all of a sudden?
