Congratulations on the birth of your son. My oldest just moved to San Jose last month, visited with him then, on his 27th birthday. Plan to visit him off and on, as I retire this year. Following along on your project, as I have a 47 Club Coupe, been driving it since 1992.

The fronts are 185/70s and the rears are 255/70s on a 15 inch rim. Not sure about widths but the fronts are narrower than the rears. Without throwing a tape on it is say the fronts are 6 and rears 7. Edit: it's stamped on the inside if the wheel. 6 and 7s.
Nice project! Very similar to my own project wich is a-46 Mercury coupé whith the same rearend, 9 inch from a -57 Ranchero and springs like yours but with a Nailhead 401 and a 400 switch pitch trans and a new interior made in California before the freight home, keep up the good work. Got a few hours tonight to go check in on the progress and help Tracy move some heavy stuff around. Bottom of the tranny mount is all finished up.
We flipped the frame over and got the engine and tranny stabbed in to start mocking up where the wishbone was going to land.
Got the axle, spring, and wishbone slid under the car and started looking at how the wishbone would mount.
Tracy thinks he can modify the Chassis Engineering kit and make it work around the giant pan on the 4L60.
Should be updates coming soon. Drew started a new job and he and I each have a newborn at home so things have slowed down for a little bit while we get his son and my daughter settled into a routine.
Frame headed to powder coating soon..... Like next 2 weeks. It's on the trailer, I just need a day off to take it and another one to pick it up.
Its important to take a day off ones in a while, looking forward to the whishbone splitting because im int the sam spot in the process and just thinking abaout how to do it the rght way, have some nice days off. Micael
When I tried to pull my engine/trans together I learned that I did not have enough clearance in the x frame to get the trans mount bolt to clear the split wishbone/trans mount. Had to pull the engine separately and then take out the two bolts that fasten the rubber mount to the trans. Barely enough space to get to those either. I'll be clearancing that x frame a bit to give me the space I need for when it goes back in!
I thought Tracy finished your Tudor! Dropped by a month ago, he was heavy into frame 'X' member reshape. That's a beauty you started with, will be worth every bit of work when done. My '46 was a club coupe, I planted a 'seasoned' Chrysler Hemi in it. Hemi came out of Joe Reath's rail. I also had a '46 Tudor, like yours. Mine had lots of 'tricks' to lower the front end: Mor-drop '34 axle, split wishbones, shortened & reversed eyed spring, flattened leaves, and a flattened front crossmember. It was loooow...and so cool! Love those '46es.
Here she goes! Hopefully she will be back in 10 days. Gave the shop plenty of time to get it done,.... plus that' my next day off work. Shock mounts, wishbone mounts, tranny mount, and body mounts all headed as well. Split bones headed down for powder coating, too.
@Ritzy1 I'll have to see if I can pull them as one. I always seem to run out of engine hoist height and it turns into a game of letting air out of tires. I know I am rebuilding the tranny before it goes in just to eliminate having to take it out again. A friend owns a transmission shop and said if I go down he will walk me through the process. That and I'll need it to stand up to about 400hp/400tq when I get my new engine to put in! One step at a time.... I can't wait to see it as a rolling frame like a Rodders Journal centerfold.
I know it's not the right forum but I'm gonna post a pic of another project I just picked up. Traded the Corvair over the holiday weekend for this..... Like I don't have enough stuff going on, Right? The deal was right and I've always wanted one. After playing with the front beam and getting new shorter tires it seems to be pretty dialed in. Flame away or report it. Meh. Tomorrow I'm taking the frame back out to the shop to start playing big Legos. Hopefully by end of day I can at least get the front cross member back in and maybe the rear leaf brackets. Small goals for a short morning with the 46.
Doing some painting on small pieces this afternoon. Leaf spring U bolts, front axle bolts, drums, and backing plates.
Have new seals, gasket, spring kit, shoes, wheel cylinders, and spring kit for the 9 inch. It should be good to go under the car by the end of this week I hope.
