My wife (and the kids) had never ridden in any kind of convertible. The whole family is converted and the wife is addicted. Whenever we have to make a quick trip somewhere whether its the store or over to my Mom's, my wife always says, "Let's take the roadster" Now I just have to get her to drive it more so she's comfortable driving.

I can see it, I can see it!!! It's got a Buick straight 8 and it's all black and shiny. You've got your aviator cap and goggles on. I can see it.

  8. tech tip.............heated seats are cheap, put the heat where it is needed [you], fairly easy to install, and "hidden". i put them in EVERY convertible i build and every thing i reupholster.

the only "roadster" I ever had was a 67 Sunbeam Alpine. the few times I drove it I wanted to go back and get my full face motorcycle helmet. not much of a wind in my face kind of guy..got too much hair.

Spring is the best roadster weather in Texas and there's never a shortage of places to go...

They can be cheap, I put this together from parts. The first few times I took mine out for test drives I could not stop smiling.
I plan on driving the heck out of it this year. . .

There is more to that statement than you think, how many people have you come across over the years that will say nice roadster, even when it's a coupe etc.

We have been roadstering down here for over 20 years. It is my first hot rod. Im a big guy so Model A's are a bit cramped for space. New Zealand is well known for 4 seasons in one day so you get caught out a lot but we wouldn't have it any other way. My only dislike was my wife cut her hair short, lol, but she loves it. Cheers

I agree . Even the most mundane chore is fun in a roadster. Every trip is an adventure.

My first ride in a roadster was at age 11, 1953. A member of the 'Igniters' in Santa Clara stopped and talked when I waved him down going past our house. Old guy, 25...
Al Marceline bought his '32 Hiboy from Sid Owen, ('Mr. '32 in Santa Clara at the time...1949.) He tore it to the frame rails, built it up with a '42 Merc block, 5/16" X 1/4
He took me for a ride, the '32 was 'roomy' to a skinny kid...and FAST!
So, from 1953 to 1955 I was 'roadster crazy', found my Cabriolet in a field in October, '55.
Built a '30 Cabriolet from a $3 body (complete!) and channeled it over '32 rails, '37 tube axle, 21 stud flathead, '39 box, '32 rear, juice brakes. Left the 'convertible' windshield, proportions were good. Drove it some, (never enough!) Sold it in '62, built a '46 Coupe w/blown hemi, street style. Hairy then, not many blown hemis running around San Jose then...Still had that Roadster bug!
Helped build a few for friends, finally got a channeled '29 roadster, set it atop '32 rails, SBC 283, '49 F1 trans, '50 Merc locked rear. Practiced a cool stunt, get rolling 35 MPH, turn into edge of a driveway, pitch car up on 2 wheels. Drive for 1/2 a block or so, (No parked cars in sight) Locked rear gave control of accel.
Blew the minds of some local roadster club members...One guy (we were pals) gave me GUFF about the cool trick... "You run a reputable shop, spend time building this nice Highboy, then risk 'dumping it'! Why?"
I adjusted my shades, and replied, "Well, we HAVE to do SOMETHING, Man..."
(from 'Buzz Gunderson' to James Dean, in 'Rebel without a Cause)
    I love a roadster, now fitting a '27 highboy and assembling a '27 Tub.
