Well I got the call from Rob Ida for some metal work on Tucker number 44s bumpers We got stuck in an ice storm on the way home so all the tucker parts had to come into the hotel Block block Block I think there were about 50 corner tears Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Very cool. Who is going to do the chrome work and what specifically will be done? I assume that you Tig welded up the tears, right?
Yes everything is tig welded . I don’t know who rob uses for chrome . Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Then thE amazing opportunity to work on number 44 with Rob Artie Russ and Ryan I think they last time I heard 150 lb of lead were pulled from the car Fitting the rear of the car was no easy task . Rob and the crew had hours massaging the rear fenders to fit properly . Making everything fit The back took a whole week to get into shape Probably never get to cut a hole in a tucker roof again in my life Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Then the process of shaving an after market tucker badge from the rear bumper Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
The restoration is being done at rob idas shop in New Jersey . Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Now I know where to bring my TUCKER 48, when I get one sometime in my life. Flop, I’ve said this before, but you’re AMAZING!!!!!!
So the one in that magazine article is the car you guys are restoring? Are the Tucker resto freaks concerned with it being smoother than original? I'd bet you guys are making it much better fit than when it left the factory.
That's a rare bird...and quite a historic one at that...very cool. Your career certainly takes some pretty cool turns. Thanks for sharing the experience.
That Rob fella has one of my favorite 911's in existence... and if he using you, you must really have your shit together man. Props.
Yes the brown car is the one being restored . That’s not for me to get into as it is not in my shop . Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Thanks man ! I appreciate that ! He has a killer 930 in the shop right now . That may be my new favorite . Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
The car will be unveiled at pebble beach this year . Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Every piece quotes the same weight of 4235, which I believe came from the Tin Goose. Richard Jones (one of the TACA founders) confirmed my theory that the car was much lighter, about 3850. Tucker is very close to the same year Buick Roadmaster sedan, where that car has an cast iron I-8, cast iron Dynaflow, and an axle & driveshaft, and the Roadmaster weighs 4160.
I bet they were all over the place 175 lbs of lead was taken out of this car ! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
With a lot of hard work the guy at rob idas got her done . Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
