A good friend who passed long before his time had a Richie Evans vintage coupe tribute car in the Syracuse/Fulton NY area and I'd like to find it. Any leads appreciated. Thanks
I'm no help locating the car, but will bump it to the top. I hope you find it. I miss watching Richie drive.
Thanks to both above, I think the car was not an exact tribute as it had a Plymouth coupe body, BBC and was sort of streetable. Thanks
Boy, youre bringing back some memories there. I recall something like that from back in the eighties, but cant really be of much help.
I think there are a couple of tribute Evans cars. One is an older coupe and it is a good looking car the other is a Pinto based replica. I have seen the Pinto at Oswego Speedway years ago. I will keep looking for an owners name. Miss Richie Evans.
I loved to watch Richie and Jerry Cook and Geoff Bodine race at Shangri-la in the 70s. I miss those days.
Did you talk to the guy in Rome? He has a bunch of rich,s stuff or knows about it. He has the museum by Erie Canal village
I think Ray Evernham has one of Richies old cars...not sure which one or the history on it , but I believe he did a full resto ..I saw it at his carshow maybe 3 - 4 yrs ago
Thanks to all especially 33rag. I think we now know where the car went. Next step is to hunt it down.
Richie Evans was a real legend in the North East and I remember the day's when he pulled into a track and all the other drivers said now we are racing for second place!!!! I remember reading somewhere that he won 96 races in one season and I believe that record is still in the NASCAR books today. Those were the day's when the modifies ran many times a week. The orange 61 was always the car to try and beat at every race. Jimbo
A company called Coastal 181 books published a book simply called "Richie". I found it hard to read because I knew the ending but it is a wonderful book about the life, wild as it was at times, about Richie Evans. Amazing career.
I used to watch him at Lancaster and Martinsville. There at Martinsville the weekend he died. Very sad. There was some good stories about Richie and Cook trying to out fox each other going to points races and big money races.
Thanks Al, That's the one! It appears to be the same as 33rag found in a different time. Anyone know where this car is today? Owner contact? Memorial Day. Semper Fi!
