Hi all, I would like to fit some headders to a 1967 fairlane, it has a 427 s/oiler engine.
Which type would be the best way to go. Also, will 66 model fenders, doors fit a 67?

A bump up in my search for a couple of R-code Unicorns, a '65 or '66 full-size Mercury.

A buddy of mine has a bunch of F.E. stuff. Been talking to him lately about getting enough to put a motor together. Think I would like to put one in my '40 some day. Question is...he has a pair of heads that have fully macnined combustion chambers.
He said they are called "390 Super Maurader" heads. Any guess?

There is a 427 Super Maurader which is the same as the Ford 427 but I have never heard of a 390 Maurader. There WERE a couple years of special model Comet with a 390 and fiberglass hoods but mine didn't say super Maurader.

Far from an R code, it had the "Mileage Maker" 6 in it, but what a perfect candidate for a 427 swap.
This Custom 500 sedan was in beautiful shape, Wimbledon white and the hard to find post model.

I don't now about the 390 Super Marauder, never heard of that one. As LoudBang related, the 427 and earlier 430 MEL engines were generally reserved for the Super Marauder badges, everything else was just a Marauder.

The 1958 332 and 352 heads were also fully machined from the factory. By 1959, Ford figured out that machining was way to expensive and left them as cast after that, except for certain and specific performance applications later in the 60's. Those early machined heads are desirable, do flow decent numbers, and are certainly adaptable to larger displacement FE's.

Boneyard, Correct me if I am wrong, but that should have come off a 66' S-55 Mercury with the (under rated) 345 hp 428 FE?

Perhaps a bit past the perview of the HAMB, but a unique car non the less.

Of Course, Mac's is selling the 390 Super Marauder Decal, but I can't say if it is factory correct. It would be easy enough to have your graphics house change the numbers to put any cubic inch notation you wanted on it.

Yes it’s off a OT car, I found in the mountains of South East Oklahoma. We were down there buying a tractor, when we drove by a trailer house with the car setting in weeds. I was hoping for a 410, to get the crank. Went to look at the car, sure enough, 4barrel!! Knew I had my crank, but thought I’d check further and find the missing air cleaner top. It was in the back seat! 428 Super Marauder! Went to see how much he wanted for the car, he told me you know it’s got a “ racing “ engine in it, don’t you? He told me he bought it to make a racer out of it! He reared back and told me it would take $200 to buy that car! ..... I looked like Matt Dillon, I drew my wallet so fast. Even though it was in a four door Parklane. Yes kinda regular 428, but I got it and it’s waiting it’s turn to to be some hot rod. Bones

Very cool. $200 for that car is a steal. Lucky Dog.

That motor (even in a stock rebuild configuration) would be a ton of fun in a light weight hot rod like a Model A, '32, or '34.

If that is a Q-code car, it should have a 31 spline 9 3/8" rear in it. The axle flanges are color coded red (L) and green (R).

Will check next time I’m down on the ranch. The car was 100percent complete, right down to to the keys and bumper jack. Bones

I wrote 9 5/8, instead of 9 3/8. The axle code on the warranty tag will have a letter, instead of a number, if it is a limited slip axle. Still looking for pics of an R code '65-'66 full size Mercury. Bones, post a pic of that RH manifold if you would.

Ford literature says that 7 R-code (full size) Mercurys were built in 1965. Not sure about '66, maybe none. I've been researching 65-66 R-code Fords for many years and have never seen any 1965 R-code Mercs.
Still looking for Glidden's 1965 Galaxie race car..
