When searching for Model A boxing plates on that auction/sales site I saw these Inner Channel Boxing Plates. They are 3 sided and reportedly slip into Model A frame rails. They are also referred to as "The Boxer". They look like a good alternative to standard boxing plates, because they could be rosette welded to the frame channel, and avoid weld pulling, and warpage. Has anybody used these?
I think they look bitchin. This is how oems have made "boxed" rail chassis for years. If it works for them............. I feel that we hot rodders overthink this stuff. Sent from my LGLS992 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Nice stuff , just be careful they are not of much greater gauge material than OEM frame . If close all should be well . Just skip around when welding Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I had a thread on this some years back, MODEL A INNER CHANNEL BOXING PLATES https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/model-a-inner-channel-boxing-plates.962191/ I actually bought a set but I never used them. I did have the fronts mocked up in my frame though. I found they want to nest all the way into the frame which I didn't like for welding.
