Hot Rods Do you trim the Teats on your Tires?

Ha needle nosed pliers to stretch them out then cut them off with side cutter pliers easier and faster than razor blades

 

One day I decided to take the teats off my sidewalls - with an electric hair clippers. As soon as I was done, I noticed the damdest thing - I suddenly had a whitewall tire!!!!

Well I was going to blow them off with a C-4 shot but figured I would wake up too many neighbors

 

I bought a set of tires once that were so furry a person would of had to roll them up close to a chrome plated glove box door to fully appreciate them.

 

I leave 'em on...at about 125 mph they make a sound like "In a gadda davida"

 

Of all the new tires I installed in the 70's I don't remember tits on the sides but maybe they dressed the tires up a bit when they came out of the molds then.
I thought it was a badge of honor to have them last a while on the tread. Let your buds and relatives you had new tires.

When the first Gulf War spooled up Uncle Samantha activated a bunch of National Guard units along with all their battle rattle and deployed them. There were a bunch of trucks that apparently hadn't moved very much out of the motor pool in quite a while. They showed up at Ft. Lewis by train, that's normal enough, but that was as far as they got for a while. A whole bunch with brand new tires - well at least they had those tits on 'em, but all dry rotted to hell. It was kind of a scandal at the time. Took a while to get everything up to speed.

 

Yes I trim mine off and so does my best friend, only we use a toenail clipper as it is a straight cut clipper.

 

I clip the tires and air bags. Tits is what I call them.

Any one who would do that need to seek counseling right away. I have better things to do then that.

 

I never did this years ago , but the last two sets of Firestone Bias Plys I bought had nips that were close to an inch long sticking out of the sidewall. They just couldn't be ignored, like the hairs in an old womans mole. Your eyes just went right to them.

I only shave about once a week or so. I guess I am the wrong person to ask.

I would probably trim them on a show car. But if I am driving it I am driving it. I do know people who do that sort of thing though. I make them nervous so I only know them in small doses.
