Have you looked into having your axles and drums redrilled for 5 lug or buying 5 lug replacement axles and drums? Heck of a lot easier than swapping rear ends. Just a thought.

Unless the rear is from a 4 liter ranger they are 7.8 and not real
strong. Ok if you aren't putting to much power on it. Also one axel is shorter, the right one I belive and it offsets the center of the diff. which
is fine becuse you want your u joints to work. The 8.8 is good and
strong as they used them in most f150's 80's to 90's and in alot of other rwd ford stuff.

  8. The 4 lug and 5 lug rears in the Falcon are completely different.
that little wimpy 4 lug rear in a 62 Falcon is great in stock form, but would be hard to adapt, and nothing from the 8 inch will fit.

The best one to get is the original 5 lug Falcon rear from 63-65, then the Maverick.
On a good day I can get $300 for a Falcon one, and the Mavericks go for about $200.

Pretty cheap for a nice upgrade.

The Maverick 8" wil go right in with no problem, but you are going to need new U-bolts and different lower shock plates.(grab the Maverick plates) The Mav rear will also have beefier axles, and a ribbed centrsection. The Granada 8" will also work, but it is app, 1" wider.

If you get serious ... a 57 Ford 9 inch is almost a bolt in also. :)

Old thread, I know, but to keep misinformation from spreading. Too wide by 2".

Again, old thread, but Ford Ranger 8.8, from 1983-1992, is 56-1/2" wide. I have one under my '60 Falcon.

They can be had with 9" or 10" drums. The pinion is slightly offset, so you will need a small diameter driveshaft to use the stock floor.

What drive shaft did you use under your falcon with the ranger rear end

    I don't have a stock floor.

I have a handmade tunnel that is built to accept a 1960 Thunderbird console, clear a T56 6-speed, and tuck the exhaust.

You could have the stock one modified.
