That is my $30 version of a nerf bar. It's actually some stainless boat railing I picked up, with bullet caps on the ends.

Your thread title does not do it justice.

    That car is absolutely amazing.
    Thanks for posting.

BEAUTIFUL! Love a 60’s style 39/40. I do have a question for you. Have you had it on the ground with those slapper bars yet? I want to run them on my 40 but I’m pretty sure they will not have enough ground clearance. I have lowering blocks with CE parallel leafs on mine so I might just be a bit lower than yours.

  6. Wow, beautiful color, i love it.

I drove it like that for about 10 years. I think it has about 4-5 inches clearance.

I still have many little things to do, but I did drive it today. Monday I take it for upholstery.

This coupe will be sure to attract much attention. It has, while in the building stage, on our Friends Who Like 4o Fords, FB group! Thousands of electronic images of this beautiful representative of a late 50s, early 60s mild custom will soon be spread across the internet! We can't wait to see the interior!

Wow! Something hard to put into words how that looks. Maybe a gold ring with a diamond? No new car looks half that good.

If the rear quarter window looks especially clean, that's because it fell out on the road and broke. I guess with the garnish moldings out, there were not enough screws to hold it in.

Here is a question that maybe somebody could answer......
As I was pulling on to the highway, I gassed her up to blend into traffic. After a few seconds, smoke started to come in at the shifter. It didn't smell like any kind of oil but rather like burning paper with a slight paint odor. I pulled over and couldn't find anything under the hood or car. My friend, Mike was following me and neither of us could see anything. I started up again and drove back about 5 miles, going 55-60 (tach was around 2000). It didn't smoke again, but I have no idea what happened..... Anybody ?

Crispy Creme, keeps coming to mind. (No Donuts!) May have been a paper tag on or near the exhaust system?? Sorry 'bout the window. Did you get vid of the drive?! Nice Ride, Al.

Ok Al, the suspense is torturing me, where’s the shots of the not white interior. If it’s half as impressive as the exterior we’ll give you back the 2 demerits we took off you.

I expect it to be done next week. Then I have some things to do to clean up the dash.

...Here is the driver's seat.....nothing fancy.....

Looks great! I’ll get used to it, as long as you and Mum like it, that’s all that counts.like everything that you’ve done to your Coupe! Well done, Summer is around the corner, and there’s a bounty on Punxsy Phils head. IMG_0301.JPG Cruz em easy. Later Lou

Yesterday I changed the wheels and put on the 41 hubcaps. Today I put in the weather seals on the doors. It's getting there.
