I purchased this NOS Champion radial engine spark plug from Marcy at Hop Up. It's still in it's original sealed tube. Here's an example from the web of what they look like out of the package. They're pretty big.
We have two old WWII war planes in Amarillo this weekend with radial engines. They have a sound all there own, one is a B17, the other is a Beechcraft C-45. Here are 2 radial plugs I have on the top right. The second plug in from the left is a Stromberg I dont know if it was associated with the carburetor.
Yes, I had 600+ different names, and thought I had a problem when I was spending stupid money on them, just one case now. Bob
37kid, you have quite the collection of St. Christopher Wings!! I have several myself. From what I understand it was common for people to pin them in the cockpits of the fighter planes during WWII, wishing the pilots good luck and a safe return from their missions. St Christopher, Be My Guide.
Thanks! The St. Christopher medal collection is in there too. I just started a St. Christopher Medal thread to keep this one all Spark Plug related. Bob
I got this vintage Champion spark plug carrier off the clasifieds here on the Hamb. I collect vintage bike plugs for some of my bikes, so all the plugs are the same except for the heat range and one early globe plug.
This is a vintage Champion spark plug tester made in the mid 30's, it has 6 adapters for the different plug threads of that period. You pressure up the fixture with the varible valve to simulate a combustion chamber. It stll has it's original Model T coil and tranformer in the cabinet and everything works perfect.
Awesome collections. My small collection is in my A speedster. And I have a couple of these my Dad gave me:
