Flyer of San Jose painted my '46 Coupe in '62, he called it 'Washington Blue'...Much darker than the color chop, he added some 'ebony'. Looked like post #54, was amazing in his shop. More 'amazing' outside.
Reversed steel wheels painted same, black tires, '50 Merc 'ash cans'. Truly stunning.
My '27 tub's gonna be that same color, getting ready for some '@Blue One' adventure in block sanding. Ugh!
I've played blues, had the blues, been 'black 'n' blue', and still love it.

Bandits problems can be linked back to his choice of color for the car ;) :D:D

Nice 32 but not blue ;)
I’m just not a fan of red, never have been.
I can always appreciate a nice car but my favourite color has always been blue.

In the spirit of the thread I'll post one of the nicest 36 coupes I've seen.

  13. Beautiful just needs to get shed of those skateboard tires. Just my humble uncalled for opinion, not my car. I would have tried to find a better background for pictures.

The Bandit hears all, sees all...unless you ask my wife. And Bob, there's always room for cool aid.
Dude! I live in Washington, it is very blue around these parts. I had to add some red to keep it real.

  22. What is the preferred color of the interior in a car that is Washington Blue?
My 50 has a really light brown (fawn) interior.
It is totally amateur & mostly worn out.
I was thinking of an Ice blue interior, it kind of matches the faded out original color of the dash & garnish pieces.
I really like blood red for the interior but do not want to repaint.
A really dark brown also looks good.

My 47 has a 2 color, light & dark blue interior that works well with the dark blue exterior.

I tried to find Washington Blue at my DuPont dealer and he said he couldn't do it unless I had a code. I explained the it was '36 Ford Washington blue. He said to get a 19336 chip chart and he would mix the color for me. I went on Ebay and found a NOS 1936 DuPont chip chart and bought it. I go back and he says" I can't use this, the numbers are too old!" So much for him. I go to the L A Roadsteres meet and Bob Drake has his new roadster on display and it is Washington Blue! I ask Bob where he got the paint code and he said the body shop that painted it came up with it. I told him about my luck and he siad to call him after he got home and he would get me the code. I made the call and Bob gave me the code for the PPG version. I go to a paint shop in Bakersfield and give him the code which he crosses to his brand and comes back to tell me the code is for 1936 Ford Washington Blue, 1964 Chevy Truck Balboa Blue, and 2009 Hyundai dark blue! It seems that paint colors stay the same but OEMs change the name to protect the innocent as it were.

I've ran across a couple of posts while searching out photos for this thread that include paint codes and other information, maybe I should be adding that information here too, to make it easier for others to find.

They might tell you that those colors are all the same but I’ll guarantee you that if you were to have them mixed up and did 3 different spray outs you would end up with 3 different shades of blue.
They’d be close but they wouldn’t be the same.

  29. Hell two separate cans of paint from the same batch will give two different colors. This is why when you have more than one can they will advise you to mix them together when one can gets 3/4 empty'
Another hint when you stir paint don't just go around & around but lift the paint stick as you do. I wish I had a quarter for every time that I was called to go to etc as the paint he is using is off color. Teach the painter how to stir their paint pretty much solved the problem & a bottle of Jack put a smile on his mug.

Time to add some pics to this thread. Ran across these pics in the Duece Run thread here on the HAMB.
