I bet they were scared to pull that tape off the doors. Is the coon poop still on the seats of the Kookie Car?

Let’s hope Moriarity is high bidder.
If anyone deserves it - it is Mark.

Only challenge is Mark is going to need a bigger living room to put it in.

    I’ve been to his cave......

Someone probably advised that barn find tape should be left in place as part of the aura.

I had a feeling Kookie would bring more but didn't fathom how much. Actually both sale numbers tell us how credible this life is, how important our history is to the automotive world. Congrats to both, or the one, who got em.

While the T did sell for more money I wouldn't have guessed $440,000.

Any idea who bought them yet? Was it a HAMBer?

We are all probably way to broke for that!

$350,000 seemed low to me at first, but then I realized that it will probably cost $1M to restore with all that gadgetry. Then it seemed more reasonable.

That is *if* it gets restored

  22. Thinking the gadgetry is low on the priority list of things to get done on that car, if even at all all that stuff worked reliably even when new.
Most of that can be done with a laptop and a few sensors ( scary how fast tech has advanced)

I think the car should get a full restoration / rebuild , keeping and reusing as much as possible from the original

The body , frame and drive train , suspension etc should not need much to get driving again. It’s all the “pretty” or maybe a better word in this case “ unique” that’s gonna take the time and money.

The kookie car, although not all surprised at what it brought, is not really the kookie car anymore it’s a nice Watson’s paint job with a bunch of stupid attached to it. I don’t think it was worth the almost 1/2 mil paid. Still a car with very cool and noteworthy history, but like an old stripper one c-section scar and a few stretch marks to many to make it cool or fun in its current state.

Seems like most of the ick on the kookie car is easily removed
Need to find the headers and intake match the interior
I read that Jim Street had most of those parts still including the original rear end etc
Going to be interesting what happens with the paint

I wasn't thinking they would bring quite that much especially the kookie car. Did his boats bring good money tooo or just the cars?

I didn't see the auction, did they put all of the pieces that were taken off the Kookie car with it in the sale? To me the car has little value in the version it is in now and the value is in putting it back to the way it was in it's hayday.

They just rolled the car out the way it sits
    No extra parts

  27. It takes deep pockets to buy old customs and hot rods with history,I do hope the new owners will restore both cars to their former glory. HRP

I heard or read somewhere when they came out of hiding, that the original pieces from the Kookie Kar were still with it and to be sold with the car. Consigners don't normally display/auction vehicles with those things present.

Mark ! Lucky guy ! We talked about this a couple of months ago...and yes, no matter what it sold for, it will cost probably, seven-figures to restore it. The buy-in was the easy part !

Thanks, for all of your pix & Info ! BTW: Here's my original Direct Link to the 2009 Interview that George, D'Agostino, and I did at the KKOA Leadsled on BOTH "Golden Sahara" & "Golden Sahara II" . George was a true treasure ! http://www.legends.thewwbc.net/gpage109.html

    Thanks, again Mark...

That would be a true labor of love and both cars deserve it. Like all great works of art.
