Features Kustoms blues? I need to see some kustoms....

Discussion in 'Traditional Customs' started by straykatkustoms, Oct 6, 2014.

  1. I'd agree with you. Sonny's Dodge is definitely one of my top 10, maybe top 5 customs ever. I remember reading about it in Classic and Custom and the parts from so many different cars in it and thinking what imagination that took. The interior is the direct inspiration for the T-Bird interior in my Pontiac. I also remember from the article that it took him 10 years or something to build it, taking a break while raising a family or something to that affect. Thinking to myself as a dumb teenager who had never built anything...."geez, why did it take him so long, gah!" Well, um, it seems pay back came my way....I've had my Pontiac 34 years this June and couldn't be further away from getting it finished. I'm sorry Mr. Dayout.....I was young, stupid, and didn't know squat. I really, really, REALLY, love your car tho......

There was a 57 Nomad in my town that sat next to a garage just going to waste through the years I got to know the old guy and managed to get him to let loose of a couple of his cars but never the 57 ... I had this magazine always sitting out thinking one day I was going to have the 57 and I would make it like the one in the magazine ....never happened ..the owner died and I didn't want to jump to soon out of respect for the family....well that turned out to be a big mistake a guy went there the day after his funeral and bought the car....and it was some one that I know very well...he got it for $2000 of course this was probably 18 years ago .... I ended up with a 57 Hillman wagon the old guy had....but I did get it before he died..... IMG_20180518_153808~2.jpg IMG_20180518_154440~2.jpg
