So I have the chance to get the front bumper off a 49 caddy, it is really good shape chrome to also the front apron. Thinking about using it on the back of my 50 Chevy any thoughts...
The Caddy bumper is such a heavy looking piece. As much as I'd like to say otherwise, I believe I'd pass. ('53-55 Pontiac rear bumpers are a natural.)
I gotta' agree with 'Mo, the Cad front bumper is too much bumper for the back of your chevy...it might help lower the back a little though
how it will look really depends on what else you do. does look a bit heavy just looking at google images. see if you can borrow it first and mock it up on some crates or something.
Thanks for the input guys, Its a freebee so im going to go ahead and get it. Prolly just put it back in the parts stash.
Never thought about the front, if I get it I'm getting the apron with it. Its on a ambulance a friend of mine is using for parts.
OK, I'll start off by saying this may well be an bad idea, but, how about using the 47-47 Cad front bumper on the front of the Chevy and the front Chevy bumper on the back?
While you're mixin' and matchin', you may want to consider this... One of the first things Larry Watson did to his own '50 Chevy was to invert the bumpers, thus lowering them (due to bolt hole placement). They remained throughout all its versions, to this day. (Photos from Rik Hoving's Archives)
