Got started on my front end assembly with some old swap meet stuff I had laying around and immediately hit a snag. This appears to be a 42-48 Ford spindle but the inner bearing seat is larger than it should be, about 1.32 instead of 1.18. Larger seal also. Obviously, I have to find another one but I'm curious to know what this one is . Thanks
Maybe it ,s a 42-48 3/4 ton pickup spindle-they look pretty much identical , but the inner bearing seat is larger.........
^^^ yup, off a big pick-up. You can use F-1/F-100 brakes or the disc brake kits made for F-1/F-100 trucks.
F-1 spindles have a bolt on drivers side arm which includes the steering arm for side steer and passenger side spindle has an integral arm with only one eye. "Tonner" truck spindles both have integral arms (OP post shows drivers side spindle) with the passenger side arm also having a second eye for cross steer. You gotta look close to distinguish them from '42-'48 square-back spindles.
Possibly, I know I have a spare loose square back I’ve been wondering what the hell im going to do with just a single. I’ll check when I get home if it’s pass or driver
