    1 out of 4.
Taking the seat out of the F1. 1 bolt came out. 1 bolt rounded off the other two broke in the captive.
    What do I do.
The rears are square captive nuts welded to the floor. These are accessible from below. The fronts are inside the hat channel.
Cut the heads off from the top and risk some damage to the seat frame?
Since I will have to remove them any way.....cut off them from below?
I might be able to use a hole saw to drill out the hat channel.
If any has done this or has a suggestion, please reply.
    Thanks.

What I have done in the past Is to heat the bolt red hot and then let it cool and then screw it out

A rusted in bolt, sometimes can be drilled out hollow, then loosened or crushed to then rotate it free. Use a drill dia. smaller than the minor thred diameter. And good aim.

Weld a nut on it, then back it out.

If it comes to it, new cages can be made of sheet metal to securely capture new square nuts.

    Replace them with these:
    Mc Master Carr
    Aligning Weld Nuts
    [IMG]

Threads float inside the retainer so you can install a bolt at a slight angle to align with off-center parts. Weld these nuts to materials for a strong permanent hold or punch holes in the flanges and secure them with rivets.

Weld zinc-plated steel nuts with aluminum retainer to aluminum parts.

Weld steel nuts with steel retainer to steel parts.

Yes, I would do some fancy measuring so you can drill from directly below, and make an access hole in the hat channel. You might find you need to replace the captive nut, or maybe you just cut it all off and use a regular nut from below.

I have had good luck with this, even with the bolts broke off and grabbing them with channel lock if there not flush. for me it seemed to work better when they were still pretty hot.

  9. Cut and weld where you think you'll be able to do the best job.

Welding nuts seems to work really well. For really stuck things heating red and quench 4-7 times and you can take them out with your fingers.

Hole saw cuts nice patacable acess holes

I find it easier to weld a flat washer to busted bolt then weld a nut to flat washer. Comes out for me every time. I took 48 busted studs out of a flat head once by doing this.

    Good Luck!!

  11. If you can get a pry bar between the seat rail and floor

I’ve had luck doing that before and hitting the bolt with an impact gun to “ zip “ it out.

The you will have to cut a hole in the floor somewhere to access the nut and reeled it or replace it
