Im working on a 1930 Model A coupe running a 392 hemi so I’m changing out the firewall to a 1932 firewall to give me a couple more inches. Anybody tackled this before? Looking for any advice. The 32 firewall seems a little bigger than the model A.
There was a build thread last year where a 32 firewall was fitted in a 30-31 roadster. Seems like it went in at about the rear of the hood ledge. I'll see if I can dredge it up.

I got to thinking how I could make this work so I made a template to the back of the model a firewall and I cut the 32 firewall to fit. Now I am welding the 32 to the model a so then all I will have to do is cut the band off of the model A and re-install it the way it came out.
I think using a 32 firewall like that will only give you an extra 2 inches. I've got a similar problem. I'm just about to remove my firewall and flip it around. That'll give you an extra 10 inches. I'm going to cut the firewall ribs and weld them back in flipped as well so when I'm done they face the right way. It's a pretty common mod apparently.
