  8. Good morning, { The Pierson Brother's coupe } In 1949 Dick and Bob Pierson broke with the traditional roadsters. And built a coupe. They turned a 142.98 at Eli's Mirage in 1950. 20180503_220557.jpg

    Hello,

In our Long Beach cruising area of Bixby Knolls, there was a group that was ahead of us by several years. Reath Automotive sponsored quite a few of these early racers. A lot of them worked there during high school. This red, Fiat Topolino was known as the Rasner/Reath A/ ALTERED entry. We saw it at Riverside Raceway in 1959. A low, port injected hemi was the power for this race car. Part of the build crew went to our high school during the same graduating year. But, this Fiat was built by a group that was older, but still went to our high school in Long Beach.

By the time we got to HS, these guys were gone. We saw them at Lions, though and for a short time, at the local drive in hangout. As the years go by, graduating seniors usually hang out for a couple of years before they go off to whatever meets their needs. (College, mechanics school, hot rod industry, publications, armed services, local sheriff/police, etc.) The only real threat was the Cuban Missle Crisis and that started the draft call up locally.

My brother and I always like cars from our Long Beach cruising area and since we knew these guys, it was a favorite of ours. Later on in 1960, we had talked about building a street roadster for the drags or an Altered to compete against these hot, local Altereds. The other one, locally, was the Ratican Jackson, Stearns, blue Fiat Altered Coupe. (also Reath Auto sponsored)

  21. MARK I really liked all your garages with the airplanes. So I borrowed (stole) your idea. I added a Japanese zero to the top of a Sinclair station on the slot car layout. THANKS RON.... 20180504_141613.jpg 20180504_140826.jpg 20180504_141750.jpg 20180504_141220.jpg

Man, things are slow this week so I'll toss in a little something else even though it's a bit OT.
