Not a car show but the granddaughter has a love affair with the model A. She's 7 now and still hangs out in the garage.

No pics, but at each show I watch as parents and kids come up to the car. You can tell if the parent is watching the child and if the child has that look and smile as they check it out. I ask the parent if the kid wants to sit in it and I haven't been disappointed in the response yet. The parent really appreciates it and the kids get a kick out of it.
In a few years they might just remember it and be hooked......

  6. I had my ride at a neighborhood show, last summer. A lady and her daughter, guessing she was about 7, lined up in front of my car for a picture... I interrupted them, saying 'Naaa, you gotta be sitting behind the wheel'. Got a big grin as she scampered into position. I showed her around the car a little, after Mom took pictures. As they were leaving, the girl looked up at Mom and said 'I love that car'. Made my whole day...

My kids like old cars pretty good but dont freak out about em or anything but I have a great nephew thats only about 3, that shows true excitement when he sees a old car or truck and will sit and play with hotwheels forever:D
Hes never really been exposed to old cars or anything hes just naturally excited about em. I think some are born with the bug and some could take it or leave it....I see some kids at shows etc. that like this stuff and some who look like they are being forced into it and would rather just be home than riding around in a"Hot" Hot rod stroller:D

  13. When our kids were little, we restored my wife's Murray pedal car from when she was a kid.
When we went to big shows, they "showed" it with my Chevy. They even got an award at Charlotte Good Guys::D

when I see kids trying to look in the window of the model A and trying so hard not to touch it I can't help but say "would you like to see in side?" " go ahead and open the door and look". some run most will look inside. fun to read their mind as they study the tuck and roll... " have you ever sat in a real hotrod???" "would you like to?" I lose a few more, mom saying go ahead sit in it! when I find a special kid, I like to reach in back and come out with a trophy. the look on their faces is priceless! THE BEST USE FOR THOSE THROPHYS!

  21. At my vendor booth I always have a "treasure box" of tumbled/polished semi-precious stones and similar. When the families come by, I let the kiddos pick out a couple pieces of "treasure" so they get to take something home, too. It's fun for them and fun for me, plus it ties in with the gemstone shift knobs I create and sell. I figure if the kids enjoy the show, that's a good thing in the long run.
