I’m looking to get my Granada spindles lower ball joint mounts reamed/honed to fit the stock replacement ball joint. Can anyone recommend a place in Arizona that can help me out? Thanks!
Not every machine shop has a collection of tapered reamers. Just be aware of that, it is not a standard tool unless they do automotive work. You may want to try a truck shop.
I’ve called a couple automotive machine shops, they say call a machine shop. I call a machine shop, they say call an automotive...you get this picture. Just not having any luck right now
They've done work for a friend before. I'm sure they can get the job done. They've got every size of tapered reamers.
I'm a little confused, though. Do you need the lower holes reamed to fit the stock (Granada?) replacement ball joint or another ('59?) that's larger? If it's stock Granada you shouldn't need to ream it.
I am putting the Granada brakes on my 59 Ranchero. I am using the stock 1959 upper/lower ball joints (new). The upper ball joint fits just fine...the lower needs to be reamed to fit the stock 1959 ball joint. Thanks for your help
I thought the shoulder of the ball joint was to stay inside the taper of the spindle? Can I run a spacer or something to compensate for the gap?
Is that the Granada spindle after reaming to fit the '59 ball joint? Are you asking if a spacer will work? I would not be afraid to use one myself. A tight fitting spacer, not a stack of washers. Check it peroidically.
The place that reamed my spindles for me is called Big Happy Rods in Lehi/Mesa, AZ. And are cool as hell! Got the front put back together with the Aerostar spring swap and some help from my 16 year old son. Of course his side went on fine...I snapped the metal brake line on the psgr side...DOH!
Once we get the brakes buttoned up I have a replacement set of leaf springs for the back to put on. Right now the old ones are on top of the rear axle...
