Did one more tweak to the crossmember to raise the front edge a bit more...

I tackled the passenger door skin last weekend. I've done several door skins in my day, but the roadster is the toughest due to lack of access to the back of the skin for hammer and Dolly work.

The eBay door skin patches are total crap as they are flat and don't fit right. So they went in the trash, and I used a roof panel off of something 1960's that had a good compound curve in it. Rather than braking the edges like normal, I welded it on without the edge so I could get a flat spoon behind to work the weld bead. Then I just edge welded the bottom and sides and blended them in... tip: the grey stuff is weld through primer and it created havoc when I edge welded the back of the skin on. It kept wicking up into the bead and I would have to grind and reweld.

It's roughed in for now. Another day of metal finishing will get it done....

Looks good. It's been over twenty years since I did that on a 32 roadster, and I don't remember how I got my hand inside the door to hold a spoon. Maybe I had smaller hands back then?

You can't rush this kind of metal work. It takes time and patience and determination.

Does this count?? I tacked in the rear crossmember and mocked it up with a spare 40 rear I had. I only had a set of 6.00's but I wanted to check and make sure I had them centered in the rear wheel wells. Still need to locate some front brakes drums and then I can mockup the front.

Today I stole the 4.50/ 7.50 off of my coupe for a better mockup and rear end placement. I think I like where the tire sits in the wheel well. Next, I'll go pick up the 35 rear axle I bought and tear it down to test fit the quickchange.

A couple weeks back I saw a post on the flathead facebook group showing some Ardun heads at a swap meet in Englishtown, and in the back of the photo I saw a SCoT blower setting there. The person who posted the photo happened to have the contact info for the seller and so I called up and struck a deal.... A couple weeks and a friend-of-a-friend relay later, this is now in my possession.

It's a never used H&H unit with a little shelf wear and it will be perfect for the roadster.

Is anyone here running a Scot blower with a mechanical fan? I refuse to run an electric one and i haven't seen a lot of setups without. Any good ideas?

Also- thinking of sending my 48 crab to bubba for a rebuild. Before I do, do any of you have a tried and true setup you like to run with the blower?

I picked up a nice 36 rear this weekend and mocked up the quickie. With my flat 40 crossmember- the 36 rear spring works, but I have about 1.5-2" of travel until the halibrand bottoms out on my crossmember- about when the axle housing bottoms out on the frame. I'm either going to swap out to a model a rear crossmember and spring, or do some more fine surgery on the one I have in there now... Haven't decided. I'd like to gain about another inch and it would be good.

Thanks Solidaxle- I'll attach a couple photos of the water pumps I'm gonna use. I'll need to swap to a different dual pulley generator with a front mount style I think.
    20180603_201746.jpg

Also for some reason the balanced doesn't look right. It's a Chevy style harmonic balancer that has a single pulley and a larger dual pulley that seem to sandwich together. The odd part is that the 6 hole pulleys don't seem to bolt on to the 3 hole balancer. The holes "wink". Also the bolt kit for the H&H blower is a different thread than the balancer that came with my blower purchase. I suspect my used kit has an alien balancer in the mix:

Based on that thread- I might want to reconsider using stock 32 front mounts (like I was planning) and switch to water pump mounts... Also- I have a 59a and was planning to run a crab, unless there is a big benefit to running g an 8ba front cover with a Chevy style dizzy.

I started a little mockup this week. Waiting on my engine mount brackets to arrive, as well as my Reds Headers. trying to decide if I'm gonna pull the trigger on a set of kmember leg extensions from Industrial chassis. I used them ony sedan and they are really nice. I must say I was in a bit if a panic as I cut into the absolutely perfect k-member but the jeep t5 will be totally worth it once the crying is done.
