History SUPER STOCK A/FX & Match race photos

Sometimes I wonder why this form of drag racing was so very popular.
I really find this era just to have something very magical about it. Each car had it's own name and sometimes I never knew what the drivers name was until much later.

The drivers also seemed but more colorful and they each were a bit of a car-actor.

Jungle Jim was the Best Showmen back in those day's by far and he really knew how to put on a show for the fans. Jungle Pam was a very big part of the show for also!

Not to clutter up the thread, but my aunt (who passed away April 5th), had a 9 passenger woody just like this in 1965. Great memories!

Every time I see this photo, the single axle trailer scares me half to death. Probably has a spare hemi in the tool box too.

Great pics and stories everyone! Made me want to see some in action. Late 60's so there are a couple OT cars but it is a great amateur video of some of the ones I got to see here on the East Coast.

The California Flash, Butch Leal. One of the greats in Drag Racing. And I’m told not half bad at golf. Never got to meet the man but as a spectator always loved to watch him run.
