My goal was to get this finished for the first race of our new group called The Brew City Gassers.
I did get it running and moving under it's own power. It's been over 51 years since it's moved under it's own power. Our first race was on April 21st, and I did make it there, and made three easy passes. So far, I'm really happy. I installed all the trim and badging, and buffed the paint. The car doesn't look too bad for having most of the original paint on it. Resized_20180421_131317_01.jpeg Resized_20180421_172332_01.jpeg Resized952018042195172337_01.jpg First pass was a 11.21@109 mph, followed by a 11.45@109 mph. I was just rolling out easy, being that I don't have any wheelie bars on it yet.
I did experience a little "death wobble" around 20 mph when decelerating after the second pass. That surprised me, being that I had the caster set at 10*. I brought it to my trailer and ended up installing a steering stabilizer. When I jacked it up to make sure it wasn't binding, I realized the steering box developed a little slop. I adjusted that out of it, and decided to make another pass.
I rolled out and nailed it a little harder and ran it farther down the track. Steering was rock solid, and I ended up running a 10.23@127 mph. There's still a lot left in it, but I have to finish up the hood and wheelie bars before I try a full throttle pass.
The car ended up weighing 2600 lbs. empty with no fuel or water in it. With full fuel and water and me in the car, it's right around 2930 lbs. with 47.5% weight on the front, and 52.5% on the rear.
I'm also new to blower motors, and I need to do some more tuning on it.

Bald 1 written superlatives for what you have done would not be enough IMO (maybe my appreciation of 62 Vettes has something to do with it). Your craftsmanship and overall build quality is really superb. I have really enjoyed your build and it is one of my favorites because you have helped make this car what it should have been years ago. The car is flat out cool. The wheels and tires, the stance, the tin work, the headers, the engine and on and on are just spot on.

The numbers for a new build with taking it easy are quite impressive. I look forward to seeing what you do with the car on the track when you let it loose. Really good stuff for sure.

To think this is where you started-amazing! IMG_20151103_151440.jpg IMG_20151103_142255.jpg

I have to thank everyone for the kind words. I've been really busy trying to get this thing moving. I will keep posting my progress on the rest of the build. I plan on being at the Meltdown drags with the car, along with the " Uncle Sam's pie eating contest" in June at Byron drag strip.
Right now, I'm just enjoying sitting back and looking at it.

Can't wait to check out your build close up and see it run at both events.

We stood in front of you in the staging lanes and gave you the Thumbs up. I am sure you got that a lot.

  21. @enloe I definitely did get a good response to the car. If you'd have came over and said hi, I'd have probably chatted your ear off, but I'm usually the last one to initiate a conversation. I'm a little weird like that. I always leave events like this wishing I'd have been more social and taken the opportunity to meet more people.

John it was great seeing you (and Wendy of course) again. Your car ran well and looked and sounded great. You represented us Corvette nuts well (although your great performance may be giving my black 62 an inferiority complex). Can't wait for the next event where I can see you both and see your car run.

Daddy_o's_diner-enjoyed watching your car as well-I told you I was a fellow Michigan guy wishing you well but you were a tad busy. Good show.

All of my pics came out like crap. By chance did you get any pics of Jeff's brown injected 62?

Jim, it was great seeing you again. I think Wendy got some pictures of Jeff's 62. I will ask her tonight. Can't wait for the next event!

I know Jim I have a basement full of 56-57 Vette parts that I might be able to put to good use. I love the 56-57 single headlights and the project ones are getting harder to find
