Another old hot rod has come out of hiding. The Dewar coupe. Hopefully somebody here will recognize it it from somewhere as we are looking for history on it.

Here is what we know so far. Looks to have been built in the late 50’s, and looks like it could have been a show car. It has been stored since the early 60’s, it was last registered in ‘61. It has been in Pasadena that entire time. Previous owner was John Dewar. Olds engine with ‘39 trans, banjo rear end.

Anyone know anything about it or recognize it?

And now what everyone is waiting for, the
    photos!

I have to say, it does not get any better than this, but what is the real story....HOW DID YOU FIND IT or HOW DID YOU ACQUIRE IT??? Was it up for sale? Someone from the owners family tell you about it???? You are unemployed and spend your day riding a bike looking into peoples garages and old warehouses? I need to know how you guys find this stuff. Well good for you.

I should clarify that I am not the lucky new owner of this car. It now belongs to my boss Troy Ladd. I believe that this was part of an estate, with a number of other cars as well. Not all of the cars interesting. But he was informed of them by the neighbor of the house where it was stored.
A 28-29 A sport coupe, and a ‘55 Ford came our way as well.

Boy is that a time capsule.
I sure hope he retains its dignity right down to the back bumper.

Holy shit doesn't quite cover it. I hope it gets just enough restoration to get it running and driving and no more.

The plan is to wash it, get it running and drive it. May have to do something about the interior because it’s a little gross, we’ll see what we can save.
But the plan is to change the least amount possible. I’m not sure if it’ll get further restored in the future, but it won’t be changed design wise.

For anyone interested seeing the other cars, here they are as found.

Here is the ‘55 as found and after being cleaned up. I don’t have great photos after the cleanup though.
We got this one fired up, and everything inside works, radio and lights, etc. still needs brake work though.

Here is the A as found and cleaned up. This one runs, has juice brakes and everything. Only thing keeping us is driving it is a faulty tube. Should have this on driving pretty soon.

There are a couple other cars involved in this that may be of interest, but are still in storage. I’ll post them as photos are available. In the meantime, hopefully someone has some info on the ‘32. If we get info on that, I’ll post it as well.

Man that 32 is just an unreal find. What's the history? That 55 is a cool little car as well!

I recognize the '32, and recall the owner's name.

If I saw the car and looked it over, it was at Quincy Automotive or Reath Automotive, in the late '50s.
Otherwise, (and I think this is the case) it was a magazine car: HRM, R&C or Car Craft Little pages.
Either P-Wood or Dean Lowe would remember, bet on it!
