    Like your roadster!

They won't replace it? Due to being an electric component? or?

I bought one from them 5 or 6 years ago that just flat didn’t work and they took it back and sent me another one. It worked!

  5. If it isn't under anyone's warranty, put a bearing in it; generators/alternators are not complicated things to repair.

Did you contact Powermaster about repairing it and if there's any warranty remaining?

If the reseller doesn’t want to help contact the manufacturer. Bit more info maybe, like how old is it? Should be an easy fix though if it’s just a bearing......

  8. 1. Check with Powergen for any warrantly coverage you may have. If none, then
    2. I wud think there are any number of auto electric shops in the La Mirada area that cud replace it if you didn't want to do it.

  9. Like they said. If it's not covered by any warranty just pull it apart, pull the bearing out. It should have numbers stamped on it, should be cheap and easy to find.

I couldn't afford one of those so I asked around. Turns out there is a local guy that converts original 6volt generators to 12 volts. I called him.
$90.00 total. Dropping it to him this weekend.
    Good luck bud

  12. Isn't it still a generator? Not that there is anything wrong with them, I have one in my Ford. Just curious. The Powergen is an alternator in generator clothing.

  14. How long have you had it ?
Speedway is usually pretty good with warranty? Unless you have owned it a while
    Try the manufacturer
If it’s just a noisy bearing it’s an easy fix

Sucks you were told to kick sand

  17. ^^^ Maybe..... Communication between the buyer/seller...... How long owned/receipt, problem? What are we missing here? Speedway is pretty good of taking care of things. Can't believe after a convo, that they'de say your shit out of luck with no additional direction.....
    Something's missing within this thread........

One year warrantee for street use and 90 day for racing applications according to the Speedway website. Five star rating from two buyers.

If the OP’s communication with us is anything to go by it may explain a lot, no answer to a common question “how old is it”
I give the OP one star ( spelling was ok ish)

Agreed, doesn't sound like Speedway, they have always been more than helpful.

I bought mine from speedway and been 3 1/2 years and going strong still. I agree with others, there’s more to the storie. Speedway has always been great with costumer service with me.

I bought it just over the year warranty but was buying parts to build a Hot Rod, so I have only just got it on the road, 200 miles on it and bearing takes a shit ion the power Gen, Speedway will not replace at all, so am dealing with powerbuilt, may have to send it to them, pain in the arse though.

Out of warranty but it took a year to get the Rod Built for the road, and only done 220 miles with that Power gen on.

over on the barn there has been several threads about failed bearings in the powergen. i would think they would have made some changes by now. i just bought one from ed whitney, not received yet, but they have a good rep it seems
