Haha. It’s been along time since I have done anything on this car. The last couple of weeks I was able to get the top put on and the remainder of the glass installed. More upholstery coming. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Thanks everyone! This was one of the most challenging parts of this build. Mrs Binger and I are excited to get to the interior next. The Indian blanket is cool but it is looking shabby and starting to come apart. We are putting in a stock looking dark grey interior. Headliner, door and kick panels, and all the trim pieces, and the seat makes for another big step. Hoping to get this done the next month or so. We have a new sewing room I built over the winter and this is going to be the first thing done in there. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Thanks. I Found that light at a swapmeet. It says Chicago USA on it. I think it is aftermarket from the 50's or 60's. I have to give credit to my wife she spotted the light when I walked by it.
Binger, From the photo it looks like you have the same sewing machine that I have inherited. Can you please post or send me a picture of the right way to thread that thing! I'm new to the industrial sewing machine and it came unthreaded and the paperwork is in an Asian language. Thanks in advance for any help. Also, Love the top! nicely done. CBB
I will post a picture of what I have for you. I wont get a chance to get to the shop until this afternoon.
Been making upholstery panels and working in the headliner. Not many pics to show on that stuff but finished the headliner tonight and I am pleased with how it turned out. Windlace next and covering the panels I made. Then on to door panels and finally seat. More to come. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Mrs. Binger and I finished the cushion also. Lots of pattern making. We have the seat back left to do. Almost there! Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Bitchin stitchin, kudos deluxe to a man who does all of the jobs himself. And Mrs. B. Inside outside downside all of it. You should be proud of your skills. Going to drive it back up to Colorado Hill Climb again this year? Pretty nice steering wheel for a country boy.
Planning on driving the car up to the hill climb this year. Trailered it before. I have a counter balanced inserted banger motor that will be finished in the middle of June. Stipe cam and a 7:1 super Winfield Head should make it scoot along. Dirt drags first. Then a motor swap. Should be a busy early summer for me. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Finished the interior this evening. Feels good to have another step finished. Hot Rod Dirt Drags next weekend too! Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Final piece of the puzzle! Inserted and counterbalanced, Stipe cam, cut down flywheel with V8 clutch and Snyder’s 6:1 Head. Now to put it all together. On another note there are 2 cracks in my super Winfield Head. Exploring options for repair. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Why would you even consider that Snyder head when you have a Winfield. Those cracks aren't even worth worrying about.
I am worried about that hard leaking there. I am also under the gun to get it all together for the hill climb. Swapping it out at a later time is easy. I will attempt a fix. I will also need the Head relieved a bit to clear piston pop up. I think I am going to try a repair. I posted on the banger meet and it was suggested to braze it up. I think I may try that. I used a modern material from Keyston brothers. It is very close to a grey mohair with out the $100/yd price. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
