I have a sign project in Austin so I spent the last two days working there. On the road home today; drove 350 miles and managed to pick some cool junk too.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Last night I checked into a little dive hotel in Lamesa Texas at about midnight. First thing I do is look for evidence of bed bugs and BINGO! I could see them on the mattress. So I hightailed it back to the office and got my money back.

The Problem was that the nearest town was Brownfield about 50 miles up the road. Luckily I found a clean room there. I was up early and planning to make good miles when i was approached by a local guy that wanted to see the van. He and his wife are renovating an old bank into a restaurant and invited me to stop by.

I did, and got the tour of their cool project. They had a friend a few doors down that has a great junk shop and of course I had to buy some of it.

About half way to Roswell New Mexico I started to develop some issues with the van. Still trying to sort out what's wrong so it looks like I'm sleeping over in alien territory tonight.

    A few photos from today.

While in Roswell I took a walk around. History is everywhere, usually just a block or so of of main st.

Fuel issue solved. Two partially clogged fuel filters, old gas caps not venting very well and carb retuned. I'm pretty sure I got some bad gas along the way too.

A fine local mechanic helped me work thru the issues. If you ever need help in Roswell NM I recommend Jessie's Auto Service. He got me in first thing, even though he was busy and it was only $88.

I left Roswell at 1pm and managed to get 388 miles behind me. The winds today were some of the worst I've ever driven in. Blew me off the road twice, luckily not into the ditch.

I did manage to make some brief stops to get photos (and to rest my grippers)

I had what was arguably the best meal of the trip today in the least likely place. Stopped for photos in the run down town of Encino NM and noticed the old fire house had a lunch sign outside.

A husband and wife run the place. It's the Encino Fire House. Best homemade tacos and stuffed jalapenos ever!

The photo out the side window of the van is the mangy coyote I almost hit.

I also saw a huge rattle snake crossing the 2 lane, almost squished him too, went back to take a photo but he was nowhere to be found.

Last photos are the nasty sandstorm I drove thru.

More crazy wind today. I'm trying to get 500-600 Mike's today. We shall see.

Just skirted past a snow storm between Cortez Co and Moab. Flakes were flying but none on the ground. [IMG][IMG]
