What a day. We covered a lot of miles; it was dry, windy and desolate. There is a sadness in seeing so much that was once alive and thriving just rotting and rusting back into the ground.

I stood and stared at the trading post sign for a long time. I'm a sign painter, and I could imagine the guys applying that paint one brushfull at a time.

I met this little dog thru a fence. His only company was two grumpy old goats.

I fell in love instantly. I'm pretty sure he wanted me to take him with us.

What happened to this town to be so abandoned ?
Be careful "mini gumby" might be female..

 

...kinda sad to see abandoned old buildings but they all draw you in with their aged character,..they all have a beauty of their own.....you have a great eye for detail, it's like we're there with your, cept we don't feel the wind.

How good would the Melrose station be as a house , thanks for the tour love it .

 

I'd think that just like a lot of other small towns along the windy roads they died after the interstates took most of the traffic away. Some died because people got better cars and had better roads and could drive a few more miles to larger cities to shop and do business. Some because the main job/revenue generator in the area gave out.

 

No way could I have left this Pup.

Hey, wish you could make it, Dennis. Hope you are o.k. with the medical thing. I wish Bruce and "Cyclone" could see fit to make it, but I will see both of them at El Mirage sometime this year. Take it easy and we will see you someday for sure.
