That is Dennis McPhail's old Chevy in black, now owned by Tom Foster. I'm sure you'd have recognized the purple version!
Tom Foster has a much classier car than the one McPhail presented to the readers of TRJ#21. I hope Tom shed the car of the cheesy white fur! He may have got the idea from the article contained in the previous post by Rustyl, LOL!
Thanks for the great article on Johnny Walghren's traditional show 'n go machine, Russtyl. Mo, do you think McPhail got the idea of white fur from this article? The white fur seems completely out of character for this Chevy!
...or maybe Lee Wells Continental? Either way, the fur is now gone. (Check out the link for more.) http://www.ckdeluxe.com/crazy-fast-cracker-part-2/
Wow...that's a difficult question....with really no answer..to many variables.... opinions... I would say this one just because it was my dads....then I would say the one I'm building now to replicate the one my dad had will be the best one ever.....ya right I wish...but actually there are alot of very nice one's that have been built threw the years and there are some very nice , beautiful cars that have been built recently that damn near could be classified as fine art or sculptures... I can only imagine what the future will bring....... Sent from my QTASUN1 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
What make and model is that side spear from? I'd like to put that on my '52 Styleline. I think Buick, but don't know.
I'm not a custom guy, never will be. There was just something special about the 1951 Chevrolet Bel Air.
sure makes me miss my last one, bought for a song, about eight or nine years ago put just enough time and money in it to get it on the road, only "custom" treatment was lowering it 2" and adding split exhaust and dual carbs.. and sold it for a fraction of what you'd expect to pay now
This tastey coupe, nicely shot is a favorite of mine. I don't remember where I lifted it from, may well be a Hamber's. Who knows it?
From beautiful gloss black to that???? To each his own I guess . Does not trip my trigger at all. Not trying to cut on it , just my opinion . Larry
Father Larry was Related to the Fisher Family that owned Fisher Body. The story was that the Diocese of Toledo, where he was located , told him not to park any of his customs in front of his church. The priest that married me many years ago was friends with him. Torchie
Picking the "best" customized 49-52 Chevy is subjective, not objective. Personal likes and dislikes are always involved. I just like the 49-52 Chevrolets. Always have. Always will.
This is a very interesting front fender spear, I can't place the year/make/model that it came from. Can somebody place this for me and my limited knowledge?
Just noticed this resurrected thread and figured I'd throw in my two cents. I'm going to have to give my vote to the Bass-built Fleetline, in spite of it being unfinished. I think that car has the "perfect" lines. Absolutely perfect. I will admit, any Fleetline gets my motor running. I've always thought the rear fender pontoons on the 49-50's look better than the taller 51-52's
