Technical Show Us Your Fabricated Parts

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Speed Gems, Mar 29, 2018.

  1. Fabricating parts might be a novel concept to some, but it's what real hot rodding is all about. To me anyway......

  4. Hey Denny,
What's really interesting is seeing the different approach that a guy takes who's strong leg is in machining vs a guy who's strong leg is in welding. Same problems, Different solutions

I went to the sign shop today. The had a display up advertising their wears and photos of projects. I was looking at the mechanisms of the display rack and all I could see was carb linkage pieces.

Roger that, but you can still see good enough to do both.
(Sounds like) the perfect recipe for two guys that like each other starting a business together, no thanks, perfect recipes don't always turn out perfect.

  13. Nice the way you added adjustability to the alternator bracket, DDDenny.
..... and the neatly done clearance notch in the frame.

    Thanks Gary
I really thought long and hard before I made that cutout in the framerail, was able to (just) get the hoodside to hide it.
Was also able to bolt the alternator directly to the block and got the pulleys to line up without spacers.

Spring over adapter brackets to move my front axle back. Shortened the wheelbase 4" with these and a redrilled perch bracket. I was able to remove two spacer plates from the perch as well so the T is still the same ride height.

Friction shocks with working friction pads on both sides of the lever. Work great!

Right side, low mount Alternator bracket to replace the previous left side setup and delete a wonky idler pulley.

Windshield posts from sheet steel and an old rusty pipe I found in the pile. The frame is made from some pipe and a slotted 57 Ford truck tierod tube.

I have made a few parts over time. Here is a header flange for a 25 Olds head. First find a piece of scrap large and thick enough (3/8). Cut off everything that doesn't look like a header flange. Ready for pipes. Olds 002.JPG

zgate.jpg A Z gate I made for the column shifter in my truck. It keeps an old man from missing a gear at the drag strip. The pin on the shifter arm fits in the Z gate when you pull it down into low. Slap it up once for second gear and again for third or drive. For street driving you just pull it down into drive as you would normally.

I wanted to do something clean to cover the A crossmember in the deuce frame under my roadster. My buddy and I made this up to fit the floors I made with a shrinker/stretcher and a bead roller.
