I would like to put a 32 grill on my 29 Model A maybe. I am running a banger engine. I was wondering what radiator most of you guys were using?

You need the one that is about 4 inches shorter. then you build your brackets. I got an aluminium one off ebay.

    Try a Modine #397...
Fits a '63ish Ford 6 cyl. pick up... sbc layout, centered filler, with the mounting flanges trimmed it fits in a '28-'29 shell... too small of a core, you can see part of the top tank...we like to use overhead lighting defusers, $13 at LOWZ does 2 shells...
Moves the radiator back 3/8" to 1/2" [hood fit ?] ...
You can just barely see the top tank in my buddy's '31 A tudor... DSCN0819.JPG DSCN0820.JPG

Jamco built mine '32 style, but same height as the model A. You need to trim the lower sides up to drop the shell to keep your hood going at the right line.

Ok guys . Thanks for helping me stay with the model A grille. 3banjos , there original 81's that Uncle Max did for me. He's great. I am just running the 2 for rite now. The engine is completely rebuilt with inserts . The head is 6 to 1 . Touring engine. Schwalms rebuilt it for me ,here in Pa. He's one of the best here in the USA. He ships a lot to Australia and to New Zealand. It runs real good. Thank you for the nice replies guys. Bob.......................

Here is a good comparison for you with the hood off. I personally love the 32 grill. I kept the old one of course. I had a hole in my radiator and was thinking about it before that and thought if I am going to switch it out ....better do it now.

  14. All this grille talk! It is a radiator shell!

A model A has no grille at all while the Deuce has a separate one within the radiator shell.

I'm putting a 32 grill on my 31 but have to agree that the 28/29 looks better with the stock shell. I didn't have a shell at all nor a radiator so that is a moot point for my Vic.

    Gasserbob,
Cool car, like others have said, stay with the original shell.
    The ‘28 /‘29 s just don’t look right with a ‘32 grille and surround.
Something to do with the height of the radiator/hood etc.
If you don’t believe me just look at post 13.

A 32 grill shell will fit a stock Model A radiator with very little effort. I cut the the bottom out of the shell by an inch or so and the shell slides over the radiator to the point where the hose sits neatly through the 32 surround.

'28-'29 radiators are a little wider than the '30-'31s,
gets tight at the upper edges of the sides... like dad said... measure before you buy...

Well I may have to change my opinion on the 32 shell on the 29 thing after seeing that.

Yea that's what I thought to. Some you see they look real good. Some you see they don't look real good. That's why its hard to make my mind up. Bob...................

    Thanks for the compliments.
I had it built both ways in my head, but I had to chose one.
It gets upholstery starting this week.

That is a fine looking A , and a great improvement over the original shell !
Question; Part of the really 'clean' look of your ride is the way you mounted your headlights with full fenders.
Where are those headlite mounts available....or did you fab those up ?

Blue...my favorite color, other than shaker can Grey, eh !
