A buddy rang after work to say he saw some old Packards outside the Ashley Motel on his way home from work. I almost forgot about it, as I was eating, so the sun was going down by the time I got there. I snapped a few pics, but didn't go out the back of the Motel, where there was quite a few more. This one was hiding out the back, and my favourite.
my friend, Jon has a high end 37 roadster, Cad 500 engine, only car I have ever seen with a trunk and a rumble seat
Thanks for the pics, lots of nice Packards there. I gather that the NZ Packard club is on a club run. Where are you located? North, South, town?
In the mid 1970's a car yard in Sylvania a Southern Sydney suburb had a RHD 1937/38 Packard Coupe in a bright metallic blue..........even now nearly 50yrs later I can still picture it..........beautiful cars.......andyd
I think you may find that the first Packard pictured is owned by a very well known Hot Rodder / X Drag Racer / x Bonneville racer that now lives in Central Otago.
Swiftly, I'm in Greymouth on the South Islands West Coast. I've since heard that the Warbirds annual Show down in Wanaka is on this coming weekend, and there is a Packard do happening there at the air show.
